La PSNI vuole tutti i nastri del Boston College

PSNI moves on Boston College tapes

The PSNI has “initiated steps” to retrieve all the material from Boston College’s Belfast project.

The project’s recordings were carried out under the supervision of Boston College researchers Ed Moloney and Anthony McIntyre.

The discussions known as the ‘Boston College tapes’ began in 2001 with republican and loyalist paramilitaries to form part of an oral history of the Troubles.

As part of the controversial oral history project, republicans and loyalists recorded their stories anonymously. Their names could then be revealed posthumously.

The Boston recordings are known to include accounts from high-profile figures like the IRA members Brendan Hughes and Dolours Price, and the UVF man turned PUP leader David Ervine – all of whom have since died.

A statement released on Thursday afternoon said: “This is in line with PSNI’s statutory duty to investigate fully all matters of serious crime, including murder.”
