Pubblicate le spese dei parlamentari nordirlandesi

E’ stato rivelato che molti parlamentari chiesero il massimo consentito per i costi degli uffici, mentre l’Assemblea di Stormont era sospesa

La Northern Ireland Assembly Commission ha pubblicato i dettagli delle Office Cost Allowance (OCA – Indennità per i costi degli uffici) sostenute dai parlamentari tra aprile 2003 e marzo 2008. E’ la prima volta che i dettagli dei periodi 2003/2004 e 2005/2006 sono resi pubblici.

Le cifre mostrano i dettagli delle richieste individuali fatte dai parlamentari.

L’OCA fornisce il finanziamento ai parlamentari per assumere l’incarico in Assemblea e nella circoscrizione, includendo i costi per l’apertura di un ufficio elettorale e per l’assunzione di dipendenti.

Lo Speaker dell’Assemblea, William Hay, ha detto: “La Commissione dell’Assemblea si impegna ad assicurare che l’Assemblea sia aperta e trasparente riguardo alle spese dei propri membri.

“A giugno abbiamo convenuto che, dalla fine di settembre 2009, avremmo dato più informazioni sulle spese dei parlamentari.

“Abbiamo lavorato duro per seguire tale impegno affinché la gente in Irlanda del Nord possa vedere come vengono spesi i soldi pubblici”.

La pubblicazione di oggi segue quelle sui dettagli per l’OCA del 2008/2009 e del primo quadrimestre dell’anno finanziario 209/2010.

More MLA expenses made public

It has been revealed many MLAs claimed the maximum allowance for office costs while the Stormont Assembly was suspended.

The Northern Ireland Assembly Commission has published details of MLAs’ Office Cost Allowance (OCA) expenses from April 2003 to March 2008. It is the first time details from the 2003/2004 and 2005/2006 period have been made public.

The figures provide details on individual claims made by MLAs.

The OCA provides funding to MLAs to undertake Assembly and constituency work and includes the cost of running a constituency office and employing staff.

Speaker of the Assembly, William Hay MLA said: “The Assembly Commission is committed to ensuring that the Assembly is open and transparent about expenditure incurred by its Members.

“In June we agreed that, from the end of September 2009, we would place more information about MLAs’ expenses into the public domain.

“We have worked hard to stand by that commitment so that the people of Northern Ireland can see for themselves how public money is being spent.”

Today’s publication follows the Assembly Commission’s recent release of details of MLAs’ OCA expenses for 2008-2009 and the first four months of the 2009-2010 financial year.
