Il governo ha pubblicato l’ultimo rapporto dell’IICD che copra gli ultimi sei mesi della legislazione sulla decommissioning.
Ha affermato Woodward: “Questo è stato un periodo estremamente produttivo per l’IICD con lo smantellamento delle armi di formazioni paramilitari sia repubblicane che lealiste.
“Gli storici atti di decommissioning testimoniati dall’IICD in questi sei mesi sono il culmine di anni di duro lavoro.
“L’Irlanda del Nord è un posto molto differente da quello che era 12 anni fa, quando l’IICD fu istituita ed il generale John de Chastelain e la sua squadra hanno avuto un ruolo importante in quella trasformazione”.
L’amnestia per la riconsegna delle armi senza essere incriminati per il loro possesso è terminata il 9 febbraio in Irlanda del Nord ed il 25 febbraio nella Repubblica d’Irlanda.
Shaun Woodward ha detto: “Ora che la legislazione sulla decommissioning è terminata, voglio discutere con il governo irlandese i passi per finalizzare il lavoro dell’IICD e per la preparazione di un rapporto finale sugli armamenti”.

Government publishes six month report by IICD
The Government today published the latest report by the IICD which covers the final six months of the decommissioning legislation.
Shaun Woodward said: “This was an extremely productive period for the IICD with the decommissioning of weapons by both republican and loyalist paramilitary organisations.
“The historic acts of decommissioning witnessed by the IICD over this six month period were the culmination of years of painstaking work.
“Northern Ireland is a much different place from what it was 12 years ago when the IICD was established and General John deChastelain and his team have played an important role in that transformation.”
The decommissioning amnesties in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland ended February 9 and 25 respectively.
Shaun Woodward said: “Now that the decommissioning legislation has ended, I will want to discuss with the Irish government arrangements for finalising the work of the IICD and the preparation of a final report on armaments.”
