Una pipe bomb è esplosa fuori da una casa a Limavady, nella Contea di Londonderry
Una famiglia si trovava nell’abitazione ma non ci sono stati feriti. Una vettura parcheggiata all’esterno è stata gravemente danneggiata.
L’Ispettore Capo Steven Carrigan dice di essere “aperto” a scoprire chi si celi dietro l’attacco, ma ha aggiunto che si tratta di un “avventato attacco contro la comunità”.
Si tratta della quarta pipe bomb lanciata questa settimana nella zona nord occidentale; le altre tre sono state realizzare dai repubblicani.
Per l’ispettore Carrigan l’attacco “avrebbe potuto causare vittime”.
“E’ stato un attacco avventato… mentre i bambini stanno ancora giocando per strada”, ha affermato.
“Questo potrebbe essere vostro figlio, la vostra famiglia e sarebbe potuta essere la vostra casa e mi appello alla popolazione: per favore dateci informazioni. Abbiamo bisogno del vostro sostegno.
“L’ordigno era funzionante e avrebbe potuto uccidere qualcuno”.
Un’altra pipe bomb era esplosa martedì fuori da un’abitazione nel quartiere di Creggan a Derry.
La polizia parlava di “banda criminale” per le due esplosioni avvenute lunedì.
Una famiglia di sette persone non è stata colpita dallo scoppio di una pipe bomb nella zona di Culmore, sempre a Derry.
Anche l’altra pipe bomb è stata lanciata nella “Stroke City”, ma è esplosa solo parzialmente nei presis di una casa di Westland Street.
Il gruppo Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) si era accollato la responsabilità per gli attacchi.

Pipe bomb explosion in Limavady investigated
A pipe bomb has exploded outside a house in Limavady, County Londonderry.
A family were in the house but there are no reports of any injuries though a car parked outside is said to have been badly damaged.
Chief Inspector Steven Carrigan said they were “open-minded” about who was behind the attack, but added it was a “reckless attack on the community”.
It was the fourth pipe bomb explosion in the north-west this week; the other three are thought to have been caused by dissident republicans.
Ch Insp Carrigan said the attack “could have resulted in death”.
“It was a reckless attack… at a time when children were still playing in and around that street,” he said.
“This could have been your child, your family and it could have been your home and I’m appealing to people out there ‘please give us the information’, we need your support.
“The device was viable and it could have killed somebody.”
A device exploded outside a house in Londonderry’s Creggan area on Tuesday.
Police blamed a “criminal gang” for two explosions early on Monday.
A family of seven escaped injury when a pipe bomb exploded near their home in Spruce Meadows in the Culmore area of the city.
Another device partially exploded when it was thrown at a house in the Westland Street area.
Responsibility for both attacks was claimed by a group calling itself Republican Action Against Drugs.
