Un quarto uomo è stato arrestato dalla polizia che indaga sulla morte di Bobby Moffettt, mentre la famiglia ha tenuto una veglia in memoria dell’uomo
Altri due uomini vengono interrogati sull’omicidio.
Anche i due uomini, di 25 e 31 anni, sono stati arrestati nella zona di Belfast nel pomeriggio di domenica.
Un 49enne fermato sabato è stato rilasciato.
Bobby Moffettt, 43 anni, è stato colpito al volto e al petto da due uomini armati e a volto coperto nelle ore centrali di venerdì.
Ricoverato in ospedale, è morto dopo poche ore.
Veglia
Moffettt è stato ucciso all’esterno dell’edificio della Northern Bank intorno all’ora di pranzo di venerdì, mentre la strada era piena di passanti e bambini.
Un uomo di 25 è stato fermato domenica a Belfast; un trentunenne è ancora in stato di fermo per essere interrogato dopo essere stato fermato domenica mattina, mentre un terzo uomo arrestato venerdì è stato rilasciato.
La rabbia nella comunità è palpabile, con una donna che ha riferito a Utv di essere stata testimone dell’omicidio.
“Uno shock totale nella comunità” ha affermato.
“L’ho visto steso per strada e non dimenticherò mai com’era la sua faccia – mai. E’ stato scioccante… terribile”.
Ha aggiunto che è stato altresì sconvolgente per chiunque vedere la scena e ha descritto la vittima come “un uomo di famiglia”.
“Era un uomo di famiglia, sì – stava vicino alla sua famiglia e l’amava molto.
“Tutto ciò che faceva era tenersi da conto”.
Si pensa che Moffettt fosse membro del Red Hand Commando e il suo omicidio è stato collegato ad una disputa personale con membri della UVF.
“Bobby Moffettt è stato assassinato, ma tutta la comunità sente l’impatto di quell’azione” ha detto a Utv un uomo.
“E’ come se fosse esplosa di nuovo la bomba di Shankill – c’erano persone che avevano tristemente perso la vita, ma l’impatto era ripiombato su tutta la comunità.
“La gente è furiosa, sono arrabbiati con il gruppo paramilitare responsabile di questo e loro possono anche smentire, ma lo hanno fatto per gli ultimi 40 anni e poi sono giunti a questo”.
Prosegue l’uomo: “La gente è arrabbiata e vorrei chiedere a chi è furente e pensa di fare qualcosa in risposta di non farlo perché servirebbe solo ad aumentare la rabbia e il dolore nella comunità”.
Centinaia di persone domenica sera si sono unite alla veglia per l’uomo assassinato.
I messaggi lasciati sui mazzi di fiori rivelano una miscela di rabbia e dolore per l’omicidio, eseguito da distanza ravvicinata da due uomini armati.
La polizia ha descritto l’attacco come “uno spietato omicidio a sangue freddo”.

Fouth man held over Shankill gun attack
A fourth man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of Bobby Moffettt on Belfast’s Shankill Road, as the victim’s family held a vigil in his memory.
Two other men are being quizzed over the killing.
The pair aged 25 and 31 were also detained in the Belfast area on Sunday afternoon.
A 49 -year -old man arrested on Saturday was released.
The 43-year-old was shot in the face and chest by two masked gun men in broad day light on Friday.
He was taken hospital but died a short time later.
Vigil
It happened outside the Northern Bank building at lunchtime on Friday, while the street was packed with shoppers and children.
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on Sunday in the Belfast area – a 31-year-old man is still being held for questioning after being arrested earlier on Sunday, while a third man arrested on Friday has been released.
The anger in the community is palpable, with one woman telling UTV about the moment she witnessed the killing.
“Total shock in the community,” she said.
“I saw him lying in the road and I will never forget the look of that man’s face – never. It is just total shock … terrible.”
She added that it was very shocking for everyone on the street to see – including women and children – and described the victim as a “family man”.
“He was a family man, yes – stood up for his family and loved them very much.
“All the fella did was keep himself to himself.”
It is believed Mr Moffettt was a member of the Red Hand Commando and his killing has been linked to a personal dispute involving elements of the UVF.
“Bobby Moffettt was shot dead, but the whole community felt the impact of that,” one man told UTV.
“It’s like the Shankill bomb all over again – there were individuals who sadly lost their lives, but the whole community felt the impact of what happened.
“People are angry, they are angry at the paramilitary group that’s behind this and they may well be in denial, but they have been in denial for the last forty years anyhow so they have got good at that.”
He added: “People are angry and I would be asking those who are angry and are thinking of doing something in retaliation not to because that only increases the anger and the hurt and pain in the community.”
Hundreds of people turned out on Sunday evening at a vigil for the murdered man.
Messages left on the numerous bunches of flowers revealed a mixture of anger and grief at the shock killing, carried out at point blank range by two gunmen.
Police have described the shooting as “a cold-blooded, ruthless killing”.
