Ieri il gruppo Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) ha ammesso la responsabilità nel doppio ferimento di Creggan avvenuto venerdì scorso.
Hanno sparato ad una gamba di due uomini, di 29 e 27 anni, dietro ai negozi di Central Drive.
E’ emerso che il gruppo aveva prelevato i due uomini dalle loro abitazioni intorno alle 18, prima di portarli ai negozi di Creggan, dove gli hanno sparato.
Nel comunicato rilasciato al Derry Journal, il RAAD ha avvertito che deciderà quando, dove e come agire” contro i presunti spacciatori.
Parlando al giornale dal suo letto di ospedale, uno degli uomini feriti, un disoccupato padre di tre figli, ha affermato: “Stavano ovviamente osservando la mia abitazione. Ero tornato da soli 30 minuti quando il campanello ha suonato. Ho chiesto chi fosse. Quando nessuno ha risposto, sono andato a vedere chi c’era (fuori dalla porta)”.
L’uomo – che non vuole essere identificato – ha proseguito: “Quando ho aperto la porta, mi sono trovato con una pistola puntata alla testa da un uomo a volto coperto e mi è stato detto di salire su un furgone. C’erano tre o quattro persone all’interno – tutte a volto coperto.
“Ho pensato fossero giunti per uccidermi. Poi mi hanno ficcato un cappuccio in testa. Ho pensato davvero di morire. Temevo per la mia vita.
“Quindi ci hanno messo contro il muro chiamandoci spacciatori b*****i. Hanno detto che ci avevano osservato e che questo era ciò che avveniva agli spacciatori e quindi ci hanno sparato. La cosa seguente che ricordo, era di essere in ospedale”.
Ammettendo di essere coinvolto nella vendita di “roba strana”, l’uomo ha detto di sperare di uscire dall’ospedale prima di Natale e di voler condurre una vita tranquilla d’ora in poi.
“Quei ragazzi sembravano conoscere tutto di me. Devono avermi tenuto sotto controllo per un po’. Ovviamente non abbiamo proseguito quando hanno dato un’amnistia così hanno agito in maniera rapida contro di me. Spero e prego che tutto sia finito e voglio avvisare chiunque sia coinvolto nello spaccio di valutare attentamente.

RAAD admit Creggan shootings
Vigilante group Republican Action Against Drugs (RAAD) yesterday claimed responsibility for a double shooting which took place in Creggan on Friday night.
Two men, aged 29 and 27, were both shot once in the leg behind shops at Central Drive.
It has emerged that the group abducted the men from their homes at 6pm before driving them to the Creggan shops where they were shot.
In a statement to the ‘Journal’, RAAD warned that it will “decide when, where and how to take action” against alleged drug dealers.
Speaking to the ‘Journal’ last night from his hospital bed, one of men who was shot, an unemployed father of three, said: “They were obviously watching my house. I had only returned 30 minutes earlier when the buzzer sounded. I shouted. When no one replied, I went to see who it was.”
The man – who does not want to be identified – added: “When I opened the door, I had a handgun put to my head by a masked man and was told to get in a van. There was three or four people in the van – all of them were masked.
“I thought they had come to kill me. I then had a hood put over my head. I really thought I was going to die. I was in fear for my life.”
“They then put the two of us up against a wall and called us drug dealing b******s. They said they had been ‘watching us’ and ‘this is what happens to drug dealers’ and shot us. The next thing I knew, I was in the hospital.”
Admitting that he had been involved in dealing some ‘dodgy merchandise’, the man said he hoped to be out of hospital for Christmas and that he just wanted to lead a quiet life from now on.
“These boys seem to know everything about me. They must have been watching me for a while. Obviously, we didn’t go forward when they gave an amnesty so they took swift action against me. I just hope and pray it is all over and I would advise anyone involved in dealing to knock it on the head.”
