Il RAAD ha emesso l’avvertimento quando si è presa la responsabilità per aver gambizzato un uomo di 24 anni a Cable Street nel Bogside martedì sera.
Al giovane hanno sparato nella parte posteriore della gamba, quando alcuni uomini a volto coperto sono entrati nella sua camera da letto e hanno aperto il fuoco.
Nel comunicato del RAAD si legge: “Tre volontari sono entrati e hanno messo in sicurezza l’abitazione. Uno è rimasto al piano inferiore fornendo copertura. Un volontario è salito al piano superiore e ha scoperto l’uomo mentre si nascondeva sotto al letto. Ha aperto il fuoco ma la sua arma si è inceppata, obbligando il secondo volontario all’azione”.
Il RAAD dice anche che la vittima “dovrebbe considerarsi fortunata”, perché il malfunzionamento dell’arma lo ha salvato dal ricevere la prevista punizione.
Il gruppo ha aggiunto che l’uomo dovrebbe “lasciare il paese” o incontrare “una rapida e severa punizione”.
Il gruppo armato ha anche detto di voler cessare la propria amnistia contro gli spacciatori entro sei settimane.
“Dopo consultazioni con la comunità, il RAAD ha deciso di ritirare la propria amnistia dal primo giugno. Casi individuali possono essere ancora rivisti in base a specifiche circostanze.
“Il RAAD ha fornito un’ampia opportunità a tutti i venditori di morte di uscire fuori e desistere”, prosegue il gruppo.
Il gruppo di vigilantes hanno dichiarato di essere pronti a uccidere chiunque continui a spacciare droga quando finirà l’amnistia.
“Qualsiasi banda o individuo anti-sociale non dovrebbe illudersi. La prossima volta che busseremo ad una porta potrebbe essere l’ultima volta”, continua la dichiarazione.

‘Next knock could be your last’
RAAD issued the sinister warning as they claimed responsibility for the shooting of a 24 year-old man in Cable Street in the Bogside area on Tuesday night.
The young man sustained a gunshot wound to the back of his leg after a group of masked men burst a bedroom in his Cable Street home and shot him.
The RAAD statement said; “Three volunteers entered and secured the house and one remained downstairs providing cover. A volunteer went upstairs and discovered the man hiding under his bed. The volunteer opened fire but the weapon jammed, forcing the second volunteer into action.”
RAAD also said that the victim “should consider himself lucky” that the weapon’s malfunction saved him from receiving the intended punishment.
The vigilante added that the man should “leave the country” or face “swift and severe punishment”.
The armed group also said it has taken the decision to end its amnesty for drug dealers in just over six weeks’ time.
“Following consultation with the wider community RAAD has decided to withdraw its blanket amnesty from June 1st. Individual cases may still be reviewed on their own merit in certain circumstances.
“RAAD has given ample opportunity to all death dealers to come forward and desist,” the group said.
The vigilante group indicated it is prepared to kill anyone still selling drugs after the amnesty ends.
“Any anti-social gangs of individuals should now be under no illusion that the next knock on their door may be very well be their last,” the statement said.
