Lunedì, poco dopo mezzanotte, un ordigno è stato lanciato contro una casa di Inishowen, Contea di Donegal. L’uomo presente all’interno non è rimasto ferito ma la cucina è stata danneggiata. Si tratta del secondo attacco in pochi mesi contro la stessa abitazione.
In una telefonata al Derry Journal, un portavoce del RAAD si è assunto la responsabilità per l’ordigno incendiario.
“L’occupante ha messo la casa in vendita ma il RAAD non gli permetterà di trarne profitto”, ha affermato. “Lui resterà un obiettivo fintanto che vivrà in Irlanda. Avvisiamo anche gli agenti immobiliari di non farsi coinvolgere nella vedita della proprietà”.
Il consigliere dello SDLP Shaun Gallagher ha detto di essere disgustato dall’attacco.
“Questo è un tntativo deliberati di uccidere”, afferma. “Questa gente non ha il diritto di prendere il potere di giudicare.
“Se c’è un problema, allora le apposite autorità dovrebbero essere allertate e lasciate libere di affrontarlo utilizzando gli strumenti di legge. Questo è inaccettabile”.
La Gardai chiede aiuto ad eventuali testimoni. L’ispettore David Murphy riferisce che i suoi agenti sono stati messi a conoscenza dell’attacco alle 12:35 di domenica notte. Durante l’indagine hanno scoperto che “un piccolo ordigno” era esploso.
“Abbiamo chiamato gli artificieri dell’esercito e stanno esaminando l’ordigno. Anche il nostro personale forense è coinvolto. Siamo stati impegnati in chiamate casa per casa nel quartiere e facciamo appello a chiunque abbia informazioni di contattarci”.

RAAD warn estate agents
Shortly after midnight on Monday a device was thrown at a house in the Inishowen town. A man, who was inside the property, was not injured but damage was caused to the kitchen. It’s the second attack on the house in recent months.
In a call to the Derry Journal newsroom a RAAD spokesman claimed responsibility for planting the blast incendiary device at a house.
“The occupant has put his house up for sale but RAAD will not allow him to profit from [it],” he said. “He will remain a target for as long as he lives in Ireland. We also advise all estate agents not to be involved in the sale of the property.”
Derry SDLP councillor Shaun Gallagher said he was disgusted at the attack.
“This was a deliberate attempt to take life,” he said. “These people have no right to take the law into their own hands.
“If there is an issue on the ground the proper authorities should have been alerted and left to deal with it through the courts of law. This is unacceptable.”
Gardai are appealing for information on the incident. Inspector David Murphy said his officers were made aware of the incident at 12.35 on Sunday night. On investigation they discovered that a ‘small device’ had exploded.
“We called in the army’s explosive ordnance people and they are currently examining the device. Our forensics people are also involved. We have been engaged in house-to-house calls in the neighbourhood and we would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us.”
