Anti-sectarianism rally to take place in Belfast
An anti-sectarianism rally is being held in Belfast today to express support for the family of the Catholic community worker beaten to death in Co Derry nine days ago.
Kevin McDaid was laid to rest yesterday close to his home in Coleraine.
The 49-year-old was beaten to death by a loyalist mob which entered a nationalist area of the town shortly after Rangers’ victory over Celtic in the Scottish league title race.
Today’s rally, which is being arranged by the trade union movement, takes place at Belfast City Hall at 12.30pm.
