La donna, madre di tre figli, fu assassinata a Lurgan il 15 marzo 1999 dallo scoppio della bomba lasciata sotto alla sua macchina del gruppo paramilitare lealista dei Red Hand Defenders.
Ad inizio aprile venne annunciato che la relazione non sarebbe stata pubblicata fino a dopo le elezioni per l’Assemblea dell’Irlanda del Nord.
Mentre esercitava come avvocato, Rosemary Nelson aveva lavorato per alcuni importanti repubblicani.
La quarantenne agiva anche come consigliere legale di un gruppo di residenti cattolici che si opponevano alle marce dell’Orange Order a Drumcree.
Dopo aver denunciato di essere stata intimidita dai membri delle forze di sicurezza e dai paramilitari lealisti, il caso della Nelson salì alla ribalta internazionale, con un certo numero di gruppi per i diritti umani in tutto il mondo che temevano per la sua sicurezza.
Il Segretario di Stato Owen Paterson ha detto che rilascerà una dichiarazione alla House of Commons quando il rapporto arà pubblicato.
“Con il permesso del Presidente, confermo che darò l’opportunità alla famiglia di Rosemary Nelson, così come altre parti rappresentate nell’inchiesta, di vedere il rapporto privatamente e di conoscerne i dettagli dagli avvocati, alcune ore prima del rilascio dello stesso.
“Alcuni membri di questa Assemblea avranno allo stesso modo l’opportunità di vedere il rapporto prima della pubblicazione, per consentire loro di rispondere alla dichiarazione resa alla House of Commons al momento del rilascio”.

Date set for Nelson Inquiry report
A report by the public inquiry into the murder of solicitor Rosemary Nelson in County Armagh in 1999 is to be published in full on Monday 23 May, the Secretary of State has confirmed.
It was announced at the beginning of April that the report would not be published until after the Northern Ireland Assembly elections were completed.
During her time as a lawyer, Mrs Nelson’s clients included a number of prominent Republicans.
The 40-year-old also acted as legal adviser to a Catholic residents’ group which opposed Orange Order marches in the controversial Drumcree parade stand-off.
Following claims she was intimidated by security force members and Loyalist paramilitaries, Mrs Nelson’s case came to international prominence with a number of human rights groups world-wide raised their fears for her safety.
Secretary of State Owen Paterson said he would make a statement to the House when the report is published.
He said: “With the permission of the Speaker, I confirm that I will allow an opportunity for members of the family of Rosemary Nelson, as well as the other Represented Parties at the Inquiry, to see the report privately and be briefed by their lawyers on its contents, some hours before the report is published.
“Some Members of this House will similarly have an opportunity to see the report in advance of publication, to enable them to respond to the statement made to this House at the time of publication.”
The Inquiry was chaired by Sir Michael Morland.
