Raymond Coyle chiede al Republican Action Against Drugs di ritirare le minacce di morte

Derry businessman calls on RAAD to lift death threat

A businessman who fled Londonderry after Republican Action Against Drugs made a threat against his life has demanded it be lifted.

Raymond CoyleRaymond Coyle was shot by RAAD for selling so-called legal highs in his shop in Derry in 2010, and received a fresh death threat in April.

In a letter to the Derry Journal, he said he had “broken no law and committed no crime”.

The vigilante group has said the men it has exiled from Derry can return.

But the group said they can only come back if they make contact with “genuine community groups”.

RAAD said it has only ordered “a small number of people” out of the city.

But Michael Doherty, from the Peace and Reconciliation Group in Derry, said his office has dealt with 58 people under threat since February 2011.

In his letter, Mr Coyle also stated he believed he was threatened not because of his shop, but because he had helped to organise protest rallies after RAAD murdered Andrew Allen in Febuary.

Speaking to BBC Radio Foyle, Mr Coyle called on RAAD to lift the threat against him immediately, and said people must speak out against RAAD.

“It’s pointless being quiet while this is going on in Derry.

“These thugs are intimidating people and spreading terror, and people have to speak out.

“People should be on the streets protesting against them.

“RAAD should disband and disarm and go away.”
