Raymond Gilmour: “Farò i nomi di chi uccise Joanne Mathers”

L’ex infiltrato nell’IRA Raymond Gilmour ha detto che rilascerà alla polizia il nome dell’uomo che assassinò a sangue freddo l’impiegata del censimento Joanne Mathers nel 1981
Raymond Gilmour comunicherà all’Unità Investigazioni sul Terrorismo (Terrorist Investigation Unit – TIU) della PSNI anche il nome della donna che ha fornito la pistola utilizzata per uccidere Joanne Mathers.
La donna, madre di un figlio, fu assassinata nel 1981 mentre raccoglieva i dati per il censimento nell’area di Waterside, a Derry.
Parlando dal luogo nascosto in cui si trova, in Inghilterra, Gilmour ha detto di aver ottenuto l’informazione sulla donna dopo la pubblicazione del suo libro “What Price Truth?”.
“Questa donna, che all’epoca era una ragazza di bell’aspetto, era giunta nel Waterside da Shantallow trasportando la pistola.
“L’arma dell’omicidio era un revolver Magnum .357 rubata dalla casa di un agente part-time della RUC.
“Questa ragazza era un corriere dell’Ira. Non è mai giunta all’attenzione della polizia che le ha permesso di muoversi facilmente tra la sponda est e ovest di Derry”.
Durante l’intervista rilasciata al Derry Daily, Gilmour ha affermato che comunicherà agli agenti il nome della donna che “trasportò” la pistola e “dell’uomo che sparò” a Joanne Mathers.
L’ex infiltrato ritiene che “la forza delle mie dichiarazioni dovrebbe portare al fermo e all’interrogatorio di queste persone. Se così non sarà, allora sto solo perdendo tempo”.
Raymond Gilmour fu l’unico testimone nel processo contro 35 presunti membri dell’INLA e dell’IRA che fu chiuso nel 1984.
L’allora Lord Chief Justice Lord Lowry respinse le prove di Gilmour perché “non degne di fede”.

Derry IRA supergrass Raymond Gilmour says will tell police the name of the man who killed census worker Joanne Mathers in the city over 30 years ago.
Gilmour said he will also reveal the name of the woman who supplied the gun when he is interviewed by detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit (TIU) at a police station in England.
The mother-of-one was shot dead in 1981 as she collected census forms in the Waterside area of the city.
Speaking from his hideaway home in England, Gilmour told Belfast Daily he had recalled the information about the woman following the publication of his book “What Price Truth?”
“This woman, who was a good looking girl in her day, came over from the Shantallow area and walked to the Waterside in the east to provide the gun.
“The murder weapons was .357 Magnum revolver which had been stolen from the home of a part-time RUC officer.
“This girl was a courier for the IRA in the city. She never came to the attention of the police which allowed her to move easily from the west bank to the east bank of Derry.”
Gilmour said during the interview he will tell the names of the woman who “couriered” the gun and the “man who shot her.”
He added: “I believe on the strength of my statements all three people should be arrested and questioned. If not, then I am just wasting my time.”
Gilmour was the only witness in the supergrass trial of 35 INLA and IRA suspects but it collapsed in 1984.
The then Lord Chief Justice Lord Lowry dismissed Gilmour’s evidence as being “unworthy of belief.”
