Esclusiva Belfast Daily: Il pentito Raymond Gilmour afferma che consegnerà i nomi di una serie di membri dei Provisional IRA che sono responsabili di omicidi irrisolti
Raymond Gilmour, 54 anni, ha deciso di “sollevare il coperchio sulle atrocità commesse dalla Brigata di Derry dell’IRA”, dopo la pubblicazione della sua storia avvenuta sul Belfast Daily.
Ha detto di essere stato “inondato” di messaggi di sostegno dopo aver detto che avrebbe riferito alla PSNI che il vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness ha ordinato una serie di omicidi a Derry risalenti ad oltre 30 anni fa.
Le sue rivelazioni sono state fatte anche nel suo nuovo libro ‘What Price Truth?’ (Quale prezzo per la verità?) che è stato appena pubblicato.
Adesso ha detto al Belfast Daily che farà i nomi alla polizia, rivelando gli assassini di:
- Christopher Shenton, soldato inglese di 21 anni, ucciso da un cecchino IRA nel gennaio del 1981 mentre presidiava un posto di osservazione a Castle Gates, Derry, che si affacciava sul quartiere repubblicano di Bogside.
- Joanne Mathers, protestante e operatrice del censimento. La signora Mathers fu uccisa a Anderson Crescent a Gobnascale, Derry, mentre raccoglieva i moduli nel 1981.
- David Montgomery, assassinato nel febbraio 1981 nella fabbrica di legname Keys a Derry. Gilmour afferma di conoscere l’identità dei suoi assassini. “Uno di loro si è vantato dell’omicidio in una riunione IRA il giorno successivo. Avevano fatto viaggi di prova al cantiere nelle settimane precedenti l’omicidio”.
- Lord Louis Mountbatten ucciso nel 1979 nella Contea di Sligo da una bomba piazzata sulla sua barca.
Raymond Gilmour ha detto Belfast Daily: “Trenta anni fa, quando stavo rilasciando dichiarazioni allo Special Branch della RUC e al CID, nessuno era interessato a Martin McGuinness.
“Tutto era stato tenuto lontano da lui. Qualcuno lo stava proteggendo all’interno dei servizi di sicurezza. Non si può essere stato il numero uno a Derry per tutto quel tempo senza essere mai incarcerato.
“Ora sto chiedendo alla PSNI, attraverso il mio avvocato a Belfast, di venire ad interrogarmi in merito a quanto so che è accaduto tanti anni fa.
“Voglio che questo sia un nuovo approccio a quanto accadde. Ho i nomi di coloro che sono coinvolti in questi omicidi, alcuni dei quali sono esponenti politici dello Sinn Féin.
“Queste famiglie meritano di sapere la verità e anche di ottenere giustizia”.
Recentemente Raymond Gilmour è stato accompagnato in Inghilterra da ex membri delle forze di sicurezza per incontrare poliziotti inglesi e raccontare loro degli omicidi IRA avvenuti a Londra e Birmingham.
Una lettera è stata inviata questa settimana dall’avvocato di Gilmour, destinatario il comandante della polizia nordirlandese Matt Baggott, cercando un incontro tra l’ex pentito (supergrass, Ndt) e gli investigatori dell’Unità Investigazione sul Terrorismo (Terrorist Investigation Unit).
Il suo avvocato chiederà che la PSNI o la polizia londinese metta Raymond Gilmour in regime di protezione dei testimoni, per prevenire eventuali attacchi.
Raymond Gilmour è apparso nello show di Frank Mitchell U105 venerdì mattina per parlare della sua vita in fuga dall’IRA per tre decenni.
“È stata un’intervista pre-registrata e hanno eliminato tutte le cose veramente importanti che volevo dire. Sentivo che mi avrebbero censurato”.
Dice che parlare del suo passato ha contribuito ad alleggerirlo dei segreti appresi tra la fine degli anni Settanta e l’inizio degli Ottanta.
“Più mi apro su quanto è accaduto tanti anni fa, meglio mi sento.
“A queste persone nello Sinn Féin e nell’IRA non dovrebbero permettere di andare liberi dopo aver compiuto omicidi a sangue freddo.
“Sinn Féin e nell’IRA stanno cercando di screditarmi. Perché? Perché sanno che io cnoscola verità.
“Quando sono diventato un pentito all’inizio degli anni Ottanta, ho distrutto l’IRA a Derry. Li ho messi in ginocchio.
“Adesso ho intenzione di fare lo stesso. E questa volta voglio vedere Martin McGuinnnes sul banco degli imputati perché ha le mani sporche di sangue di un sacco di vittime”.

IRA SUPERGRASS GILMOUR: I WILL WRECK SINN FEIN AND IRA IN MY HOME CITY
EXCLUSIVE: IRA supergrass Raymond Gilmour says he will hand over the names of a string of Provo killers behind unsolved murders.
The 54-year-old said he has decided to “lift the lid on atrocities carried out by the IRA’s Derry Brigade’’ following publication of his story on the Belfast Daily earlier today.
He said he has been “inundated’’ with messages of support after he said he would tell the PSNI that deputy first minister Martin McGuinness ordered a number of murders in Derry stretching back over 30 years.
His revelations were first made in his new book ‘What Price Truth?’ which has just been published.
Now he has told Belfast Daily that he will name to police those who murdered:
- British soldier Christopher Shenton, 21, shot dead by an IRA sniper in January 1981 as he manned an observation post at Castle Gates , Derry which overlooked the republican Bogside district.
- Protestant Joanne Matthers, a Census worker. Mrs Mathers was shot dead in Gobnascale’s Anderson Crescent in Derry as she collected forms in 1981.
- David Montgomery who was shot dead in February 1981 at Keys timber yard in Derry. Gilmour also says he knows the identity of the killers. “One of them bragged about the shooting at an IRA meeting the next day. They had been doing dry runs the timber yard in the weeks leading up to the murder.”
- Lord Louis Mountbatten in 1979 in Co Sligo by planting a bomb on his boat.
Gilmour told Belfast Daily: “Thirty years ago when I was making statements to the RUC Special Branch and CID, nobody was interested in Martin McGuinness.
“Everything was being pointed away from him. Somebody had to be protecting him in the security services. You can’t be the top dog in Derry for all that time and never get charged.
“Now I am going to be asking the PSNI through my solicitor in Belfast to come and interview me about what I know happened all those years ago.
“I want this to be a fresh approach to what happened. I have the names of those involved in these murders, some of whom are leading political figures in Sinn Fein.
“These families deserve to know the real truth and also get justice.’’
Recently Gilmour was chaperoned in England by ex-security force members to meet English police officers to talk about IRA murders carried out in London and Birmigham.
A letter will be winging its way this week to PSNI Chief Constable Matt Baggott from Gilmour’s solicitor seeking a meeting with the former supergrass and detectives from the Terrorist Investigation Unit.
His lawyer will also be requesting that either the PSNI or Metropolitan Police put Gilmour into a witness protection scheme to prevent any attacks on him.
Gilmour appeared on the U105 Frank Mitchell show on Friday morning to talk about his life on the run from the IRA for three decades.
“It was a pre-recorded interview and they took out all the really important things that I wanted to say. I felt I was being censored.”
He says that talking about his former past has helped to unburdened him of secrets he has known about since the late 1970s and early 1980s.
“The more I have opened up about what happened all those years ago, the better I feel.
“These people in Sinn Fein and the IRA should not be allowed to get away scot free for carrying out cold blooded murders.
“Sinn Fein and the IRA are always trying to discredit me. Why? Because they know that I know the truth.
“When I was a supergrass in the early 1980s, I wreck the IRA in Derry. I brought them to their knees.
“Now I intend to do the same. And this time I want to see Martin McGuinnnes in the dock because he has the blood of a lot of victims on his hands.”
