Un oscuro gruppo paramilitare lealista si sta impegnando a colpire i repubblicani. Un portavoce della “Real UFF” ha chiamato il Sunday World e, utilizzando un’apposita parola in codice, si è assunto la reponsabilità per l’attacco con pipe bomb contro un club GAA a Ahoghill
L’uomo che ha telefonato ha affermato che il gruppo al quale appartiene si era mosso contro un lealista locale.
Il portavoce della “Real UFF” ha sostenuto che l’uomo ha lasciato la zona di Ahoghill, ma ha spiegato che se farà ritorno, verrà assassinato.
La “Real UFF”, ha proseguito l’uomo, sta pianificando una serie di attacchi violenti contro alcuni noti repubblicani abitanti in zona.
All’inizio di questo mese, una pipe bomb artigianale è esplosa presso un club GAA a Ahoghill, Contea di Antrim.
L’ordigno è parzialmente esploso presso i campi di Cloney Gaels in Crosskey Road lo scorso 8 febbraio, provocando lievi danni alla proprietà.
Lo scoppio ha infranto due finestre e provocato piccole bruciature.
I resti della bomba, tra cui un tubo in metallo, due pile, due timer e vari cavi elettrici, sono stati scoperti quella mattina da un membro del club e successivamente sono stati portati via dalla polizia per un ulteriore esame.
Daithy McKay, parlamentare dello Sinn Fein, ha messo in guardia da attacchi vendicativi..
“Non ho dubbi che sia stato un attacco deliberato dei lealisti contro il club GAA”.
L’attacco con pipe bomb è avvenuto il giorno prima della partita tra Antrim e Wicklow, sebbene la partita sia stata disputata lo stesso.
Quest’ultima assunzione di responsabilità è destinata a rinnovare i timori tra i membri locali della GAA.
In precedenza il club era stato attaccato nel 2009, quando una macchina bruciata era stata scaricata sui campi da gioco, dopo l’attacco contro tre chiese cattoliche.
Un lealista ha respinto la “Real UFF” quale organizzazione credibile.
“Questa potrebbe essere una bandiera di comodo per due persone” ha detto.

‘UFF’ group threat to dissidents
A SHADOWY loyalist paramilitary group has pledged to wreak havoc on dissident republicans. A spokesman claiming to be from an organization styling itself the ‘Real Ulster Freedom Fighters’, contacted the Sunday World newspaper and using a codeword, also claimed responsibility for a recent pipe bomb attack at a GAA club in Co Antrim.
The caller stated that the terror group to which he belongs, had moved against a local loyalist.
The Real UFF spokesman claimed the man has since left the Ahoghill area of Co Antrim, but insisted that if he ever returned, he would be shot dead.
He further claimed, the ‘Real UFF’ was in the process of planning violent attacks on a number of known dissident republicans in the area.
Earlier this month, a crudely assembled pipe bomb exploded at a GAA club at Ahoghill in Co Antrim.
The device partially exploded at the Cloney Gaels grounds at Crosskeys Road on Saturday February 8, causing minor damage to the property.
Two windows were broken in the explosion and minor scorch damage took place.
The remains of the bomb including a metal pipe, two batteries, two timers and various wires were discovered by a club member that morning and were later taken away by police for further examination.
North Antrim Sinn Fein MLA Daithi McKay, warned against a tit-for-tat response.
“I have no doubt it was a deliberate attack on the GAA club from a loyalist source.”
The pipe bomb attack came the day before an inter county match between Antrim and Wicklow, although the match went ahead.
This latest statement claiming responsibility is bound to renew fears among the local GAA.
The club was targeted before in 2009 when a burnt-out car was dumped at the grounds after attacks on three Catholic churches in the area and the club itself.
A mainstream loyalist source dismissed the ‘Real UFF’ as a credible organization.
“This could be a flag of convenience for two individuals,” he said.
