Il gruppo Cairde na hÉireann (Amici dell’Irlanda), il più grande gruppo di repubblicani in Scozia, si trovava a Derry per una commemorazione pasquale.
Il consigliere Colly Kelly dello Sinn Fein ha condannato l’attacco.
“Avevano appena lasciato una funzione e stavano viaggiando lungo Rossville Street intorno alle 22:30 quando alcuni giovani con il volto coperto dalle sciarpe si è piazzato sulle strisce pedonali. Quando l’autista ha rallentato, i giovani hanno lanciato le pietre contro il bus, infrangendo un finestrino. Le persone sul bus sono rimaste sconvolte dall’attacco ed era l’ultima cosa che si aspettavano da una visita nella nostra città. Ci sono stati altri incidenti simili intorno al cavalcavia, domenica sera, compiuti da piccoli gruppi di teppisti”, ha concluso Kelly.

Scottish republicans attacked
The group, Cairde na hÉireann (Friends of Ireland), the largest Irish republican group in Scotland, were in Derry for an Easter commemoration on Sunday.
Sinn Féin councillor Colly Kelly condemned the attack.
“They had just left a function and were travelling along Rossville Street around 10.30pm when a number of youths with scarves up over their faces stepped out onto the pedestrian crossing. When the driver slowed down the youths threw stones at the bus, breaking a window. Those on the bus were shocked at the attack and is the last thing they expected on a visit to our city. There was a number of similar incidents around the Flyover on Sunday night carried out by a small gang of hoods,” he said.
