La banda, che si fa chiamare “Bishy Brandywell Flag Bandits” (Bishy è l’abbreviativo di Bishop Street), hanno inserito una serie di 25 fotografie rivelando l’identità delle persone del quartiere. Il titolo del cosiddetto album fotografico è “Bastardi settari – attacco sul sito”.
Le fotografie includono anche quella di un poliziotto della PSNI deceduto, con una triste didascalia.
Anche al resto delle immagini sono state aggiunte delle didascalie, alcune delle quali troppo volgari per essere pubblicate.
Nell’avvicinamento alla parata degli Apprentice Boys of Derry di questo fine settimana i collaboratori alla pagina Internet hanno inserito dozzine di immagini di loro stessi mentre rubano bandiere dalle zone lealiste della città, compresa Lincoln Courts e Fountain. Le bandiere saranno bruciate nei bonfire nazionalisti il 15 agosto.
In un altro punto del sito si legge: “A tutti i bastardi orangisti che stanno leggendo questo – Vi sfidiamo a venire in Foyle Road il 15 agosto”,
Ci sono stati scontri recenti nell’interfaccia tra Fountain e Bishop Street. E’ stato anche rilevato che i giovani nazionalisti si radunano in Foyle Road nel tentativo di istigare i giovani provenienti da Fountain, per scontrarsi nella zona di Wapping Lane.
Secondo le date ed i tempi, alcune delle foto inserite relative alla rimozione di bandiere sono databili maggio, ma le ultime sono state scattate il 28 luglio.
Un’altra sezione della pagina rivela che la sezione centrale del murales sulla Regina, rimosso alcuni mesi fa da un muro in Bonds Street, è stato preso dai giovani nazionalisti. Le parole sotto alla fotografia dicono: “Da Bonds Street al nostro bonfire”.
Gregory Campbell, del DUP, dice: “Sfortunatamente Internet contiene materiale che la gente può ritenere offensivo – e questo è una cosa. Ma qui siamo a un livello differente. E’ riprovevole ed odioso.
“C’è la minaccia di violenze, incitando la gente a recarsi in un certo posto ad una certa ora. Bisogna fare qualcosa.
“C’è il dovere degli amministratori del sito, qualsiasi sia la legge. Più tempo passa, il fallimento dell’auto-regolamentazione provocherà più pressione a livello internazionale per i governi che dovranno regolarla. Questo dovrebbe venire rimosso dal sito”.
La polizia di Derry ha detto (la solita frase standard che ripete ogni volta, Ndt) al Sentinel: “Non monitoriamo i siti Internet con frequenza giornaliere. Comunque prenderemo le opportune azioni qualora riceveremo reclami per reati commessi nella nostra giurisdizione”.
Fountain residents being targeted on website of hate
The gang, calling themselves the ‘Bishy (Bishop Street) Brandywell Flag Bandits’, have posted a selection of 25 pictures specifically identifying people from the area. The title of the so-called photograph ‘album’ is ‘Sectarian b******s – attack on site.’
The photographs also include one of a dead PSNI officer, accompanied by a sick caption.
The rest of the pictures have also been given captions, some of which are too vile for publication here.
In the build up to this week’s Apprentice Boys Parade contributors to the webpage have posted dozens of pictures of themselves stealing flags from loyalist areas across the city, including Lincoln Courts as well as the Fountain. The flags are to be burned on nationalist bonfires on August 15.
One goading piece of information on the site reads: “To all you Orange b******s who are reading this – We dare you to come to the Foyle Road on the 15th.” It goes on to label them “cancerous”.
There have been ongoing clashes at the Fountain/Bishop Street interface over the past few months. It has also been noted that nationalist youths have been gathering at the Foyle Road in attempts to encourage clashes with youths from the Fountain in the Wapping Lane area.
According to the dates and times on some of the photos posted on the site the removal of flags appears to have been ongoing since May – but the newest postings reveal that it has been going on as recently as July 28.
Another section of the webpage reveals that the centre section of the mural of the Queen removed from a wall in Bonds Street some months ago was taken by nationalist youths. The wording beneath the picture placed on the webpage says of the mural: “From Bond Street to our bonfire.”
The DUP’s Gregory Campbell said: “Unfortunately the internet does contain material which people find offensive – that is one thing. But, this is a on a different level. It is reprehensible and obnoxious.
“There is a threat of violence there by enticing people to come to a certain area at a certain time. It needs to be acted upon.
“There’s an onus on the administrators of the site whatever the law is. The longer time goes on, the failure of self-regulation will see more pressure at an international level for governments to have it regulated. This should be removed from this site.”
The police in Londonderry told the Sentinel: “We do not monitor internet sites on a day-to-day basis. However we will take appropriate action when we receive complaints of criminal offences that occur within our jurisdiction.”
