Rilasciato uomo fermato ieri per attacco a Massereene Barracks

L’uomo di 51 anni arrestato nel Mid Ulster martedì dalla polizia, che indaga sulla morte di due soldati alla caserma Massereene, è stato rilasciato incondizionatamente

I genieri britannici Patrick Azimkar e Mark Quinsey furono colpiti a morte presso la base di Antrim lo scorso marzo.

Altre cinque persone furono ferite nell’attacco portato dai repubblicani (e rivendicato da Oglaigh na hEireann, Real IRA).

De uomini, Brian Shivers di Maghera e Colin Duffy, di Lurgan, sono stati accusati per l’omicidio.

Durante l’udienza di Shivers, a luglio, la polizia ha riferito di essere alla ricerca di un uomo che, temono, potrebbe aver lasciato l’Irlanda del Nord.

I genieri Quinsey, 23 anni di Birmingham, e Azimkar, 21 anni di Londra, furono uccisi dalla Real IRA fuori dalla caserma, mentre ritiravano alcune pizze.

Man released in Massereene inquiry

A 51-year-old man who was arrested in the Mid Ulster area on Tuesday by police investigating the murders of two soldiers at Masserene barracks has been released unconditionally.

Sappers Patrick Azimkar and Mark Quinsey were shot dead at the Antrim base in March.

Five other people were injured in the dissident republican gun attack.

Two men, Brian Shivers, from Maghera, and Colin Duffy, from Lurgan, have been charged with the murders.

During Mr Shivers’ court appearance in July the police said they were seeking a man who they feared may have left Northern Ireland.

Sappers Quinsey, 23, from Birmingham and Azimkar, 21, from Wood Green, London were killed by the Real IRA outside their barracks as they collected pizzas.

Two gunmen in a car parked nearby opened fire with semi-automatic rifles.
