Rilasciato uomo interrogato per omicidio Moffett

L’uomo di 55 anni arrestato sabato è stato rilasciato senza alcuna accusa

La polizia ha riferito che il cinquantacinquenne è stato fermato sabato mattino nella zona di North Belfast.

Moffett, ex prigioniero lealista e membro del Red Hand Commando, fu ucciso da due uomini a volto coperto in pieno giorno a Shankill Road, a maggio dello scorso anno.

L’Independent Monitoring Commission aveva scoperto che l’omicidio era stato avallato dalla dirigenza della UVF.

Alcune persone sono state arrestate in collegamento con l’omicidio, ma nessuno è stato accusato formalmente.

Dawn Purvis, all’epoca leader della vetrina policia della UVF – il Progressive Unionist Party – rassegnò le dimissioni per protesta contro l’omicidio.

Man questioned over Bobby Moffett killing is released

A 55-year-old man arrested on Saturday by detectives investigating the murder of Bobby Moffett has been released without charge.

Police said he was detained in the north Belfast area on Saturday morning.

Mr Moffett, a former loyalist prisoner, was shot dead by two masked gunmen on the Shankill Road in May last year.

The Independent Monitoring Commission said the killing was sanctioned by the UVF. A number of people have been arrested but no-one has been charged.

The leader of the UVF-linked Progressive Unionist Party, Dawn Purvis, resigned from the party in protest at the murder.
