Riot a Lurgan. Polizia sotto attacco

La polizia è stata attaccata con bottiglie molotov nella zona di Victoria Street a Lurgan, mentre eseguivano le ricerche di un ordigno

Secondo una portavoce della polizia, sarebbe stato visto un uomo armato durante alcuni tentativi di bloccare gli autoveicoli nella zona di Bells Row.

Un’auto è stata sequestrata, ma il suo recupero è avvenuto poco dopo. La polizia afferma che la calma è stata riportata.

Gli agenti della PSNI stavano esaminando un terreno della fabbrica Glendinning (ora chiusa), dopo le voci che parlavano di una bomba lasciata nella zona. L’allarme sicurezza poi si è rivelato infondato.

In un altro allarme a North Belfast, gli artificieri dell’esercito sono stati chiamati ad analizzare un pacco sospetto lasciato sotto ad un’automobile situata vicino alla stazione di polizia di Tennent Street.

A Craigavon, un oggetto sospetto era stato trovato in TullygallyRoad.

Entrambi gli allarmi erano stati provocati da finti ordigni.

Police attacked in Lurgan alert

Police have been attacked with petrol bombs in the Victoria Street area of Lurgan, as they carried out searches during a hoax bomb alert on Monday.

According to a PSNI spokeswoman, reported sightings of a gunman were also made during a number of attempts to hijack vehicles in the area of the Bells Row junction.

One car was hijacked, but recovered a short time later and police say calm has now been restored.

Officers had been examining waste ground at the old Glendinning factory, amid claims that a bomb had been abandoned in the area. The alert was later found to be a hoax.

In a separate security alert in north Belfast, army bomb experts were called to deal with a suspicious package below a car close to Tennent Street police station.

In Craigavon, a suspect device was also found on the Tullygally Road.

Both those alerts were later found to be hoaxes.
