Riot ad Ardoyne costato oltre 1 milione di sterline alla PSNI

Il comandante della PSNI ha rivelato che affrontare i 4 giorni di disordini ad Ardoyne a luglio è costato 1,1 milioni di sterline alla polizia

Matt Baggott ha snocciolato i dati durante un incontro le Policing Board nordirlandese.

Secondo il Chief Constable il costo è equivalente ad impiegare una squadra di 8 poliziotti per 3 anni nel quartiere di Ardoyne.

Molti poliziotti sono rimasti feriti durante tre notti di violenza ad Ardoyne, North Belfast. I disordini sono iniziati nel pomeriggio, dopo il passaggio di una parata orangista nel quartiere repubblicano.

Più di 40 persone sono state accusate in collegamento con i disordini ad Ardoyne ed in altre zone di Belfast.

Policing Ardoyne riots cost £1.1m

The PSNI chief constable has revealed that dealing with four days of rioting in Ardoyne in July cost the police £1.1m.

Matt Baggott was speaking during a meeting of the NI Policing Board.

He said the cost was equivalent to that of a neighbourhood policing team of eight officers working in Ardoyne for three years.

Several police officers were injured during three nights of violence in Ardoyne which began on 12 July.

More than 40 people have so far been charged in connection with the trouble in Ardoyne and other areas of Belfast over the same period.
