Uno spagnolo è accusato di tentato omicidio nei confronti di una poliziotta durante i disordini del 12 luglio ad Ardoyne
L’accusa è stata formalizzata nel fine settimane dopo che il giovane si è recato presso la stazione di polizia di Grosvenor Road. La PSNI aveva fatto pubblicare la fotografia di un uomo che la polizia riteneva legato al ferimento della poliziotta causato dal lancio di un pezzo di cemento sulla sua testa.
Costa è nativo di Barcellona e si trova a Belfast da diversi mesi.
Un sergente PSNI ha detto davanti al giudice nella Belfast Magistrates Court di poter collegare Cosa alle accuse.
L’avvocato difensore di Roger Costa ha detto di non voler presentare richiesta di rilascio con la condizionale a questo punto dell’indagine.
“Intendo presentare domanda di rilascio ma ci sono alcune materie da affrontare”, ha aggiunto.
La giudice distrettuale Fiona Bagnall ha rimandato Costa in custodia protettiva fino al 20 settembre, quando comparirà ancora in tribunale per mezzo di un collegamento via cavo dalla prigione di Maghaberry.

Spanish man charged with attempted murder
A SPANISH man has appeared in court accused of attempting to murder a policewoman during the Twelfth of July rioting at Ardoyne.
He was charged at the weekend after going to Grosvenor Road police station following the publication of a photograph of a man the police said they wished to question in connection with an incident in which a policewoman suffered head injuries when a concrete block was dropped on her.
It is understood that Costa is a native of Barcelona and that he has been living in Belfast for several months.
A detective sergeant told Belfast Magistrates’ Court that he believed he could connect Costa with the charges.
Defence solicitor Philip Breen said he was not making a bail application at this stage.
“I do intend to make a bail application but there are certain matters to be dealt with,” he added.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall remanded Costa in custody until September 20 when he is due to appear in court again by video link with Maghaberry prison.
