Ritardo nella presentazione del mandato di arresto per Liam Adams

Un funzionario della PSNI ha confermato l’invio del mandato di arresto (European Arrest Warrant) al Dipartimento di Giustizia a Dublino.

Liam Adams, fratello del presidente dello Sinn Fein, è ricercato per i presunti abusi compiuti sulla figlia Aine Tyrrell a West Belfast, tra gli anni Settanta ed Ottanta.

Comunque l’Assistant Chief Constable Drew Harris ha detto che il Dipartimento ha una serie di dubbi sul mandato d’arresto, al vaglio della PSNI.

Harris ha riferito la notizia durante un incontro del Policing Board a Belfast.

I dubbi dovranno essere risolti prima che il mandato possa essere inviato alla polizia irlandese, in modo che la Garda possa arrestare Liam Adams.

Arrest warrant for Adams is delayed
A senior PSNI officer has said that an arrest warrant for Liam Adams has been sent to the Department of Justice in Dublin.

The brother of the Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams is wanted on suspicion of abusing his daughter Aine Tyrell in Belfast in the 70s and 80s.

However, Assistant Chief Constable Drew Harris said the Department of Justice had a number of queries about the arrest warrant, which were being considered by the PSNI.

Mr Harris was speaking at a meeting of the Policing Board in Belfast.

The queries will have to be addressed before the warrant can be issued to the gardaí so they can arrest Liam Adams.
