RSF: Condannata la visita dei Windsor a Derry

Una visita della Regina d’Inghilterra – Elizabetta Windsor e di suo marito Filippo nella città di Derry è stata condannata dal Republican Sinn Fein.

Un portavoce dell’organizzazione, che ha potuto osservare la massiccia operazione di sicurezza messa in atto prima del loro arrivo, ha detto che non è benvenuta nella città dove i suoi paracadutisti uccisero 14 persone nel Bloody Sunday.

“Un’imponente operazione di sicurezza era stata attivata per tutto il giorno intorno a Campsie e Eglinton. Ora è chiaro il motivo di tale operazione.

“Il personale della RUC a bordo di Land Rover e di auto senza contrassegni sono giunte in forze nell’area. Elicotteri volteggiavano sulla zona. Un corteo di autovetture alla fine è comparso con un gran numero di motociclette con le luci lampeggianti”.

Un altro testimone oculare nelle vicinanze dell’aeroporto ha riferito della presenza di cecchini in cima ai tetti prima dell’arrivo della Windsor che, salita in un corteo di auto, è stata portata via velocemente.

Il portavoce ha aggiunto che “Derry è il luogo dove l’esercito ha assassinato 14 persone durante il Bloody Suday. E’ ancora tenuta sotto la giurisdizione britannica per mezzo delle armi. In quanto tale, lei non è la benvenuta a Derry o in qualsiasi altra parte d’Irlanda”.

Windsor Derry visit condemned

A visit by the Queen of England – Elizabeth Windsor, and her husband Philip to Derry City has been condemned by Republican Sinn Féin.

A spokesman for the organisation, who witnessed the massive security operation in place before they landed, said that she was unwelcome in the city where her Paratroopers murdered fourteen men on Bloody Sunday.

“A massive security operation was in place all day around Campsie and Eglinton. Now the purpose of the operation has become clear.

“RUC personnel in both Land Rovers and unmarked cars were in the area in strength. Helicopters were also hovering over the area all day. A motorcade eventually emerged with a huge number of motorcycles with lights flashing.

Another eyewitness in the vicinity of the airport said that snipers were on top of the rooftops at the airport before Mrs. Windsor walked over to a motorcade and was driven off at speed.

The spokesman added that “Derry is the place where her army murdered fourteen people on Bloody Sunday. It is also still held under British jurisdiction at the point of a gun. As such, she is not welcome in Derry or indeed in any part of Ireland.”
