Il 31 luglio 2014 la seguente dichiarazione è stata rilasciata da Seán Ó Dubhláin, membro dell’Ard Comhairle del Republican Sinn Féin:
“Oggi la popolazione irlandese ha dovuto assistere ad un altro vergognoso atto di collaborazione di Stato ai massimi livelli con l’elite imperialistica inglese.
I repubblicani si sono radunati all’esterno del cimitero di Glasnevin (a Dublino, NdT) alle 11:30 per mostrare la propria rabbia e disgusto verso questa collaborazione. Per coloro che non possono capire la nostra opposizione, per quelli che dicono non abbiamo noi tutti passati. Questo è solo uno dei motivi: a 160 chilometri dalla città di Dublino giovani irlandesi vengono quotidianamente picchiati e perquisiti brutalmente nella prigione britannica di Maghaberry. In un recente messaggio ricevuto dall’interno della prigione un POW (prigioniero di guerra, Ndt) ha descritto gli abusi subiti quando si entra o si esce dalle celle come “simile ad uno stupro”.
Oltre a questa sadica pratica adottata per cercare di infrangere la volontà degli irlandesi che non accettano il governo britannico in Irlanda, abbiamo questa collaborazione con l’Inghilterra da parte dello Stato delle 26 Contee che dice di rappresentare tutti gli irlandesi. Il Principe Edoardo, Duca di Kent, è stato l’ospite di più alto profilo, voluto dal presidente irlandese Michael D Higgins. Nulla di quanto affermato in quella cerimonia collaborativa ha bisogno di essere ripetuto.
Il Republican Sinn Féin ha un messaggio diretto per coloro che puntellare e collaborano con l’imperialismo britannico in Irlanda. Non siamo andati via. Oggi su RTE 1, mentre questo vergognoso spettacolo veniva trasmesso in diretta, il popolo d’Irlanda ha potuto ascoltare le voci di protesta di chi non può essere né comprato né intimidito.
Il nostro messaggio al popolo d’Irlanda è che noi comprendiamo l’enormità del compito, dopo tutto nel passato questo Stato ha cercato di distruggere l’eredità del 1916, uccidendo repubblicani irlandesi per conto della Gran Bretagna, anzi proprio sotto il giuramento alla Corona inglese, ma non ci faremo intimidire.
È compito del Republican Sinn Féin fornire una leadership politica solida per opporsi a futuri eventi come quelli avvenuti oggi. A tal fine chiediamo al popolo d’Irlanda, a chi crede in ciò in cui hanno creduto anche i nostri martiri per la libertà d’Irlanda, di lavorare con noi. Contattate RSF via mail o telefonicamente – anche in forma anonima – e informateci di qualsiasi evento di collaborazione previsto nella vostra zona. Dobbiamo opporci a tutte. Fino a quando l’Irlanda sarà libera dall’interferenza britannica ci opporremo a qualsiasi atto di collaborazione e rivendicheremo la sovranità dagli apparati britannici in ogni luogo d’Irlanda.
Infine, mentre i nostri compagni repubblicani stavano di fronte alla prima linea di difesa della famiglia reale britannica, An Garda Síochána, una Union Jack è stata bruciata come sibolo della nostra resistenza. Uno dei nostri membri è stato arrestato, portato direttamente in tribunale e accusato di turbativa dell’ordine pubblico. Questo è giunto dopo il precedente fermo di un giovane dublinese repubblicano, molestato dai membri della Gardaí per essere entrato nel cimitero di Glasnevin. Durante la protesta un quindicenne, membro di Na Fianna Éireann, è stato colpito negli occhi dallo spray al peperoncino idai poliziotti. Stessa sorte è toccata anche ad altri repubblicani presenti al cimitero di Glasnevin”.

RSF: Shameless State Collaboration
On July 31st, 2014 the following statement was issued by Republican Sinn Féin, Ard Chomhairle member Seán Ó Dubhláin:
“Earlier today the Irish people had to bear witness to yet another shameful act of state collaboration at the highest levels with the imperial elite of England’s establishment.
Republicans gathered outside Glasnevin cemetery at 11:30am to show their anger and disgust towards this collaboration. For those who may not understand our opposition, for those who say have we not all moved on. Here is but one reason, ninety miles from Dublin town young Irishmen are being strip searched and beaten on a daily bases in England’s Maghaberry Prison. In a recent communication from the Jail one POW described how the abuse upon entering and leaving the cells for court visits etc as “close to rape.”
Amid this sadistic practice to try and break the wills of Irishmen who will not accept the British Government in Ireland we have this collaboration with Britain from the 26-County State which claims to represent all Irish people. Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent was the most high profile guest with the 26-County President Michael D. Higgins being his sponsor. None of what was said in that collaborative ceremony needs to be repeated.
Republican Sinn Féin has a direct message for those who prop up and collaborate with British imperialism in Ireland. We have not gone away. Today on RTÉ 1 television as this shameful spectacle was aired live, the people of Ireland could hear voices of protest from those who will neither be purchased nor intimidated.
Our message to the people of Ireland is we understand the enormity of the task at hand, there is no undermining the determination of the Free State to destroy the legacy of 1916, after all in the past this state has murdered Irish Republicans on behalf of Britain, indeed under oath to the crown, but we will not be intimidated.
It is the task of Republican Sinn Féin to provide solid political leadership in opposing future events such as those witnessed today. To this end we call on the people of Ireland, who believe in what our martyrs of all generations who suffered for Irish freedom believed in, to work with us. Email, write or even call anonymously Republican Sinn Féin and inform us of any events of collaboration coming up in your area, all must be opposed. Until the day Ireland is a nation free from British interference we will oppose all acts of collaboration and claims of sovereignty in any part of Ireland by all sections of Britain’s apparatus.
Finally as our Republican comrades stood facing off the frontline defence of British Royalty, the Garda Síochána, the Union Jack was duly burnt by members of Republican Sinn Féin in a symbolic act of resistance. One of our members was arrested, taken straight to court and charged for a public order offence. This followed the earlier arrest of a young Dublin Republican who was harassed by members of the Gardaí for walking in Glasnevin Cemetery. During the course of the protest a fifteen year old member of Na Fianna Éireann was among those who were sprayed in the eyes with Mace by the Gardaí.”
