Al congresso annuale del Coleraine Borough Council di questa sera, il rappresentante del DUP è stato votato come primo cittadino.
Il consigliere dell’Ulster Unionist Party, William King, è il suo vice.
Il sindaco uscente, il consigliere David Barbour, gli ha consegnato le chiavi dell’ufficio e gli ha augurati il meglio per il suo anno da sindaco.
Riflettendo sul suo intenso anno da sindaco, il consigliere Barbour, ha ringraziato il suo vice, il consigliere William Creelman, e ha aggiunto: “E’ stato un anno stimolante e voglio ringraziare coloro che mi hanno sostenuto in questo ruolo.
“E’ un ruolo importante come rappresentante e ringrazio tutti per l’appoggio, la disponibilità e l’apprezzamento”.
Il consigliere Barbour ha parlato dei molti eventi cui ha assistito in questo anno e ha detto di aver provato piacere ad invitare i membri della comunità nel Salotto del SIndaco (Mayor’s Parlour), così come aver rappresentato il Consiglio a molti eventi formali.
Il consigliere Barbour è stato congratulato dai membri del consiglio.
Nel suo primo discorso da sindaco, il consigliere Gilkinson ha aggiunto: “Voglio ringraziare il sindaco ed il vice sindaco uscenti per il loro anno e per ciò che hanno raccolto.
“Desidero anche ringraziare il mio partito per il voto.
“E’ un privilegio sedere qui in qualità di sindaco, prendo questa responsabilità seriamente, e rappresenterò attivamente tutti gli appartenenti della comunità, senza dimenticare quelli del mio collegio elettorale di Skerries.
“Adempierò ai miei compiti al meglio delle mie capacità e per conto dell’intera comunità. Riconoscil calo dei posti di lavoro e di occupazione nella nostra municipalità e desidero migliorarla insieme con le relazioni comunitarie, lavorando insieme a tutti”.
DUP’s Sandy Gilkinson is new Mayor
At Monday night’s Annual General Meeting of Coleraine Borough Council, the DUP man was voted in as the first citizen of the Borough.
UUP councillor William King MBE, is his Deputy.
Outgoing Mayor, councillor David Barbour handed over the title to councillor Gilkinson and wished him all the best for his year in office.
Reflecting on his busy year as Mayor, councillor Barbour, paid tribute to his Deputy Mayor, councillor William Creelman, and added: “This has been an exhilarating year, and I wish to thank all who have supported me in this role.
“It is an important role as representative and I thank everyone for their support, their willingness and appreciation.”
Councillor Barbour spoke about the many events he had attended in his year and said that he had enjoyed inviting members of the community to the Mayor’s Parlour, as well as representing Council at the many formal functions.
Councillor Barbour was congratulated by members.
In his first speech as Mayor, councillor Gilkinson added: “I wish to thank the outgoing Mayor and Deputy Mayor for their year, and what they have achieved.
“I also wish to thank my own party for their vote.
“It is a privilege to sit here as Mayor, as I take my responsibility seriously, and will actively represent everyone in the community, not forgetting those in my own constituency the skerries.
” I will carry out my duties to the best of my ability and on behalf of the whole community. “I recognise the downturn in jobs and employment in our Borough, and wish to improve this along with the community relations while working together with everyone”.
