Seamus Daly fermato per la bomba di Omagh del 1998

REVEALED: SEAMUS DALY ARRESTED OVER 1998 OMAGH BOMB ATROCITY

THIS is the dissident republican being questioned by detectives investigating the Omagh bombing, which left 29 people dead, one of them a pregnant mother expecting twins.

Seamus DalySeamus Daly, 45, was detained in Newry, Co Down police on Monday afternoon following a surveillance operation into his movements.

Daly – who was one of two Real IRA suspects ordered by the High Court in Belfast to pay £1.6 million to relatives of the 29 dead after being found liable for the bomb horror – was taken to the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning by the PSNI’s Terrorist Investigation Unit.

No one was ever been convicted in a criminal court of the August 15, 1998 atrocity which was carried out by the Real IRA.

The device exploded on a busy Saturday afternoon while parents were out shopping with their children.

Daly can be questioned for 48 hours under the Terrorism Act 2005 before he is either charged or released.

However, detectives can apply to a court for an extension to his detention in custody at the serious crime suite.
