Donegall Avenue, allarme bomba

Part of the railway line was closed and a number of homes were evacuated after the device was found in in Donegall Avenue on Saturday.

Army bomb disposal officers were called to the scene and they have taken it away for further examination.

All roads in the area have been reopened and residents have been allowed to return to their houses.

Earlier on Saturday, the train line was closed between Great Victoria Street station and Adelaide halt due to the alert.

Translink said passengers travelling on 10:35 GMT Enterprise train service from Belfast Central to Dublin Connolly would be taken to Newry by bus.

Meanwhile, another viable pipe bomb was found close to the same area at about 19:00 GMT on Friday night.

Police have appealed for information about the device which was discovered on the Westlink, close to the footbridge at Roden Street.
