“Segregati in casa” mentre la PSNI effettuava la perquisizione

Il padre di un importante repubblicano di Derry ha parlato dopo la perquisizione in casa sua da parte della polizia

Roy Donnelly , padre di Gary, un membro ben noto del 32 County Sovereignty Movement, ha sostenuto che la PSNI ha bloccato lui e sua moglie, una pensionata, nella loro casa di Creggan per tre ore durante la ricerca e non gli hanno permesso di andarsene.

Donnelly anche detto che a sua moglie è stato impedito di contattare la madre di 88 anni, mentre la casa veniva perquisita la scorsa settimana.

“La polizia è arrivata in appena prima delle 9. L’uomo in carica ha chiesto scusa per essere venuto così presto ma il resto degli agenti era sorridente. Uno di loro ha chiuso la porta dietro di lui, ha girato la chiave e se l’è messa in tasca”, ha dichiarato.

“Hano passato al setaccio tutta la casa e hanno portato via macchine fotografiche e quattro telefoni cellulari, due dei quali non funzionano più. Uno di loro deve avere 15 anni ed era contenuto in una custodia in pelle”, ha detto.

Donnelly anche detto che l’operazione di perquisizione è stata un’esperienza stressante. “Ho avuto un attacco di cuore e soffro di angina, mentre mia moglie è una pensionata. Lei si prende cura di sua madrina di anni 80 e non poteva entrare in contatto con lei, perché la polizia avreva preso il suo telefono “, ha detto.

Roy Donnelly crede che la sua casa sia stata perquisita a causa delle convinzioni politiche di suo figlio. “Hanno chiesto se Gary vive qui, ma sanno che non lo fa. Avevano già perquisito il suo appartamento quella mattina. Non ha vissuto qui negli ultimi anni e lo controllano così tanto che dovevano saperlo.

“Mi sembra che abbiano cercato di arrivare a lui per così tanto tempo che hanno deciso di cercare di ottenere qualcosa anche dalla sua famiglia. Pure mia figlia è stata perquisita. Non sono mai stato coinvolto in qualcosa di politico, ma ora stanno solo cercando di perseguitare le famiglie dei repubblicani”.

Donnelly ha anche ringraziato il parlamentare dell’UUP Clifford per cercare di aiutare la sua famiglia, mentre la loro casa era perquisita.

Un portavoce della PSNI ha dichiarato: “La polizia ha effettuato una perquisizione di una casa nella zona di Creggan lunedì (5 luglio) e sequestrato un certo numero di oggetti. La ricerca è iniziata alle 08:54 e conclusa alle 10:49”.

‘Locked in’ while police searched house – claim

The father of a prominent Derry dissident republican has hit out after a police search operation at his home.

Roy Donnelly, father of Gary, a well known member of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement, claimed the PSNI locked him and his wife, a pensioner, in their Creggan home for three hours during the search and would not allow them to leave.

Mr Donnelly also said his wife was prevented from contacting her 88 year-old mother while the house was being searched last week.

“The police came in just before 9am. The man in charge said sorry for coming so early but the rest of them were smirking. One of them closed the door behind him, locked it and put the key in his pocket,” he claimed.

“They went through the whole house and took away cameras and four mobile phones, two of which don’t work anymore. One of them must be 15 years-old and came in a leather case,” he said.

Mr Donnelly also said the search operation was a stressful experience. “I have had a heart attack and suffer from angina and my wife is a pensioner. She looks after her mother who is in her 80s and she couldn’t get hold of her because the police took her phone,” he said.

The Creggan man believes his home was searched because of his son’s political beliefs. “They asked if Gary lives here but they know that he doesn’t. They had already searched his flat that morning. He hasn’t lived here in years and they watch him so much that they know that.

“It seems to me that they have been trying to get at him for so long that they have decided to try and get at his family too. My daughter has been searched too. I have never been involved in anything political but they are just trying to harass the families of republicans now,” he said.

Mr Donnelly also thanked SDLP Jim Clifford for trying to assist his family while their home was being searched.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police carried out a search of a house in the Creggan area on Monday (July 5th) and seized a number of items. The search commenced at 08:54 and concluded at 10:49. Anyone who has cause for complaint about the conduct of police officers should contact the Police Ombudsman’s Office for a full and impartial investigation.”
