Il funerale di Gerry Evans – rapito e ucciso dall’IRA 31 anni fa – ha avuto luogo in South Armagh

I suoi resti sono stati ritrovati nella Contea di Louth a ottobre. Sabato mattina sua madre Mary, insieme alla famiglia, ha guidato centinaia di persone alla messa da requiem tenutasi nella St Patrick’s Church di Crossmaglen.

Parlando al funerale, il cardinale Sean Brady ha detto che un grande crimine ed un grave torto sono stati fatti a Gerry Evans ed alla sua famiglia.

Il cardinale ha condannato gli assassini dicendo che hanno mostrato una “cattiveria spaventosa” e grande arroganza, avendo giocato a fare Dio e avendo agito ome giudice, giuria e boia.

Funeral of Gerry Evans takes place in Armagh

The funeral has taken place in south Armagh of Gerry Evans who was abducted and murdered by the IRA 31 years ago.

His remains were discovered in Co Louth in October and this morning his mother, Mary, and family led several hundred mourners at requiem mass in St Patrick’s Church in Crossmaglen.

Speaking at the funeral, Cardinal Sean Brady, said a great crime and great wrong had been done to Gerry Evans and his family.

He condemned the killers saying they had shown ‘appalling wickedness’ and sheer arrogance in choosing to play God and acting as judge, jury and executioner.
