Gerard Gearon, di Ardoyne, stava visitando il museo di Anna Frank, in Olanda, quando è stato avvicinato da due uomini con uno spiccato accento di Belfast.
L’uomo ha immediatamente riconosciuto le stesse persone in abiti civili che lo hanno approcciato 18 mesi prima mentre si trovava all’aeroporto di Stansted a Londra.
L’incidente sarebbe l’ultimo di una serie di simili tentativi portati avanti nei confronti di persone in vacanza dai funzionari dei servizi segreti nella loro lotta contro i repubblicani.
Secret service ‘tried to recruit’ Belfast man in Anne Frank museum
Gerard Gearon, father of two from Ardoyne, was visiting the Anne Frank museum in Holland when he was approached by two men with Belfast accents.
He said he recognised them as being the same two plain-clothed officers who had approached him 18 months before at London’s Standsted airport.
The incident is understood to be the latest in a line of similar approaches by intelligence officers in their fight against dissident republicans at holiday destinations across the world.
