Ignoti hanno sparato sette volte contro la casa di Claire Hanna, segretaria internazionale dello SDLP
I colpi sono stati sparati da una pistola a piombini ad alta potenza.
In un comunicato diffuso domenica dal partito nazionalista si legge che la porta e le finestre della casa del consigliere sono state colpite sette volte.
L’attacco sarebbe avvenuto tra giovedì sera e venerdì mattina.
La consigliera, il marito e la figlia non erano in casa al momento degli spari.
La Hanna, presidente del Policing and Community Safety Partnership per East Belfast, ha detto che l’attacco l’ha completamente disgustata e ha mostrato totale disprezzo per la sua giovane famiglia.
“È una violazione della nostra sicurezza”, ha detto a UTV.
“Mio marito ed io abbiamo una figlia piccola e, ovviamente, la sua sicurezza è la nostra principale preoccupazione nella vita e questo incidente ci ha molto scosso”.
Claire Hanna ha detto che non si sarebbe fatta intimidire da quelli che ha descritto come fascisti senza alcun rispetto per la democrazia.
“Le ultime settimane sono state inquietanti per quelli di noi che aspirano ad un futuro realmente condiviso e per il principio che tutti qui possono essere britannici, irlandesi o in qualsiasi modo scelgano.
“Questo attacco non mi impedirà di lavorare per promuovere i valori fondamentali dello SDLP di collaborazione, uguaglianza e mutuo rispetto”.
Anna Lo, parlamentare di Alliance Party per South Belfast, ha detto che non c’era “alcuna giustificazione” per l’attacco contro la casa di un rappresentante eletto.
“Quanti altri attacchi contro i rappresentanti eletti, il personale staff e la PSNI dovremo soffrire prima che i politici unionisti si rendano conto che le proteste illegali che continuano a frequentare non fanno altro che aumentare la paura e la tensione nella comunità”, ha aggiunto.

Shots fired at SDLP councillor’s home
Shots have been fired at the Belfast home of SDLP councillor Claire Hanna.
It is understood the shots were fired from a high powered ball bearing gun.
A statement released by the party on Sunday said the front windows and door of the councillor’s house were struck seven times.
The incident is believed to have happened sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning.
The councillor, her husband and baby daughter were not at home at the time.
Ms Hanna, the Chair of the East Belfast Policing and Community Safety Partnership, said the attack disgusted her and showed utter contempt for her young family.
“It’s a violation of our security,” she told UTV.
“My husband and I have a young daughter and obviously, her safety and security is our principle concern in life and this incident has very much shaken us.”
Ms Hanna said she would not be intimidated by what she described as fascist elements with no respect for democracy.
“The last number of weeks have been disturbing for those of us who aspire to a genuinely shared future, and to the principle that all here can be British, Irish or both as they so choose.
“This attack won’t stop me working to promote core SDLP values of partnership, equality and mutual respect.”
South Belfast Alliance MLA Anna Lo said there was “no justification” for attacking the home of a hard working elected representative.
“How many more attacks on elected representatives, their staff and the PSNI will we have to suffer until Unionist politicians realise that the illegal protests they are continuing to attend are doing nothing but increasing fear and tension in the community,” she added.
