Andre Shoukri viene tenuto in confino solitario nella prigione di Maghaberry per paura di un’eventuale tentativo di assassinarlo
Gli amici dicono che l’incidente è giunto dopo tre settimane di messaggi e minacce ricevute dalla famiglia, nei quali si avverte che sarà assassinato.
“Qualcuno ha inviato un sms ad un parente, affermando che una brigata UDA si sta preparando ad aggredirlo. Si dicono sostenitori di Andre e cercano di avvisarlo della minaccia da parte di qualcuno che attualmente gli è amico.
“Non è difficile capire chi sta dietro a questo, sono gli stessi due o tre elementi dell’UDA in North Belfast terrorizzati dalla prossima uscita di Andre dal carcere”, rivela uno dei suoi amici più vicini.
Un membro della famiglia Shoukri sarebbe in contatto con il Northern Ireland Office per chiedere se il litigio scoppiato nel carcere di Maghaberry potrebbe precludergli la possibilità di uscire sulla parola dal prossimo mese.
Un funzionario avrebbe detto che non comporta alcuna incidenza sulla sua posizione e ha riferito al suo avvocato che verrà tenuto, ai sensi dell’articolo 32, sotto controllo per sette giorni.
I funzionari della prigione hanno riferito che Shoukri si trova in isolamento nel carcere di Magheberry.
“C’è un po’ di preoccupazione che ci sia qualcosa di più sinistro di questo incidente, anche se l’attacco contro Shoukri è sembrato un po’ incerto”, ha detto un funzionario.
“E’ stato appena segnato dalla stecca da biliardo e l’aggressore non è potuto restare lì quando Shoukri si è girato”.
Prison bosses fear Shoukri murder plan
Andre Shoukri is being kept in solitary confinement at Maghaberry Prison amid fears of a plot to kill him in jail.
Friends say the incident comes after three weeks of messages and threats to his family warning that he was going to be killed.
“Someone has been sending text messages to a relative claiming that one UDA brigade is going to attack him. They’re pretending to be a supporter of Andre who is trying to warn him about a threat from people who are actually his friends.
“It isn’t difficult to figure out who is behind this, it’s the same two or three in the UDA in north Belfast who are terrified that Andre is getting out soon,” one close friend said.
A member of the Shoukri family is understood to have been in touch with the Northern Ireland Office to ask if the altercation inside Maghaberry will harm his opportunity to earn parole leave from next month.
It’s understood an official said it would have no bearing on his position and his solicitor has been told that he will be kept under Rule 32 supervision for seven days.
Prison officers say that Shoukri is in the segregation unit in Maghaberry.
“There is a bit of concern that there is something more sinister to this incident even though the attack on Shoukri looks a bit half-hearted,” one officer said.
“He was hardly marked by the pool cue and the attacker couldn’t stand with him when he turned round.”
