Sinn Fein: la protesta orangista a Drumcree ha “infranto le regole”

Il parlamentare dello Sinn Fein John O’Dowd afferma che l’Orange Order ha violato una decisione della Commissione Parate durante una protesta a Drumcree, Portadown

O’Dowd ha affermato che gli orangisti hanno marciato dalla chiesa di Drumcree fino al confine del quartiere nazionalista di Ballyoran, mercoledì sera, prima di fermarsi.

L’Orange Order ha deciso di non commentare fino a quando non ha raccolto “tutti i fatti”.

Alle parate orangiste è impedito l’accesso a Garvaghy Road, fin dal 1998.

O’Dowd ha dichiarato: mercoledì sera “la tensione era alta” nella zona.

Ha detto che l’Orange Order deve spiegare le azioni prese “nelle aree più sensibili in relazione alle marce, Portadown”.

In un comunicato, la polizia ha detto di aver “ricevuto segnalazioni da parte della comunità su possibili violazioni della decisione della Commissione Parate nei confronti di questa parata”.

Hanno detto di aver avviato le indagini.

Sinn Fein claim over Drumcree protest ‘ruling breach’

Sinn Fein assembly member John O’Dowd has claimed the Orange Order has breached a Parades Commission ruling during a protest at Drumcree in Portadown.

He claimed the Orangemen walked from Drumcree church to the edge of the nationalist Ballyoran estate on Wednesday night before stopping.

The Orange Order said they would not comment until they had “all the facts”.

It has been banned from parading along the town’s Garvaghy Road since 1998.

Mr O’Dowd said “tensions were running high” in the area on Wednesday night.

He said the Orange Order needed to explain the actions they had taken “in the most sensitive of areas in relation to marches, Portadown”.

In a statement, police said they had “received reports from the community that there were possible breaches of the Parades Commission determination in respect of this parade”.

They said they were investigating the circumstances.
