Sinn Fein: Mary Lou McDonald pronta a “fare le scarpe” a Gerry Adams
Sinn Fein’s McDonald could step into Gerry Adams’ shoes
Sinn Fein’s most senior woman has said she would considering running for the party’s leadership held by former West Belfast MP Gerry Adams.
Mary Lou McDonald, the party’s vice-president, has indicated that she would consider running for the leadership of the party held by Adams for nearly 30 years if he were to step down.
Dubliner McDonald conceded that though there was currently no vacancy, she said she would be interested in the presidency “in the future, at some stage,” the Irish News reported.
Her comments come during a record high in popularity by the party which is the second most popular party after Fine Gael, after a poll by Red C put its public rating at 19% last month.
