Soldi aggiuntivi a Natale per le vittime dei Troubles

Un finanziamento extra è stato reso disponibile per oltre 5.000 vittime dei Troubles e delle loro famiglie per il periodo natalizio

Il primo ministro Peter Robinson ed il suo vice Martin McGuinness hanno detto che saranno stanziati 1,8 milioni di sterline.

Gli assistenti dei feriti riceveranno un pagamento di 500 sterline e oltre 1.000 famiglie otterranno 250 sterline. Quasi 1.700 anziani avranno 200 sterline come aiuto per i costi del riscaldamento invernale.

Il vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness ha detto: “Questo finanziamento aiuterà molti dei più vulnerabili nella nostra società e le loro famiglie in maniera pratica.

“Dimostra il nostro impegno nel rendere migliore la vita delle vittime e dei sopravvissuti”.

Il Northern Ireland Memorial Fund aiuterà a distribuire i fondi.

Il primo ministro Robinson ha detto: “Siamo consci di come possa essere difficile il periodo di Natale per molti di coloro che hanno sofferto a causa del recente conflitto, in particolare chi ha perso qualcuno di caro.

“Siamo comunque molto felici di poter fornire questo valido sostegno attraverso il Northern Ireland Memorial Fund.

“Allevierà il peso per molte famiglie in questo periodo difficile e colmo di emozioni”.

Extra Christmas cash for Troubles victims

Extra funding has been made available for over 5,000 Troubles victims and their families over the Christmas period.

First and Deputy First ministers Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness said £1.8m would be provided.

Carers of the injured will receive a payment of £500 towards the cost of a respite break and over 1,000 families will receive a payment of £250. Almost 1,700 elderly will receive £200 to help with winter heating costs.

Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said: “This funding will help many of the most vulnerable individuals in our society and their families in a practical way.

“This demonstrates our commitment to making life better for victims and survivors.”

The Northern Ireland Memorial Fund will help distribute the money.

First Minister Peter Robinson said: “We are aware of how difficult the Christmas period can be for many of those who suffered most as a result of our recent conflict, particularly those who lost a loved one.

“We are therefore very pleased to be able to provide this substantial support through the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund.

“It will help ease the burden for many families at this particularly difficult and emotional time.”
