Un gruppo anti-islamico di estrema destra è alla ricerca di volontari per pattugliare le strade d’Irlanda affinché la gente possa “camminare per le nostre strade senza temere di essere vittime di crimini”.
La pagina Facebook con il nome The Soldiers of Odin Northern Ireland (I Soldati di Odino Irlanda del Nord) hanno chiesto alla gente che vuole offrirsi “volontario per pattugliare le strade” di fornire “nome, età e indirizzo”.
C’è anche una pagina Facebook dei Soldiers of Odine Ireland (Soldati di Odino Irlanda). In uno degli ultimi articoli pubblicati scrivono: “Soldati, abbiamo bisogno di ancora più persone” perché il gruppo “inizierà molto presto a pattugliare le strade”.
In un altro articolo il gruppo anti-immigrati spiega che lo scopo delle pattuglie è di permettere alle persone “di camminare per le nostre strade senza temere di essere vittime di crimini” e la soluzione è che “se avete bisogno di difendervi, o di intervenire in un attacco, la violenza è permessa”.
Il gruppo nordirlandese su Facebook è stato istituito il mese scorso ed è seguito da oltre 300 persone, compresi dei sostenitori del gruppo di estrema destra Ulster Awake, che lo scorso anno distribuì volantini attaccando i musulmani e il multiculturalismo del Nord.
Soldiers of Odin è stato fondato l’anno scorso in Finlandia e il gruppo afferma di compiere regolari pattugliamenti per le strade di 23 città della Scandinavia.
I media finlandesi hanno raccontato dei collegamenti tra i Soldiers of Odin e i movimenti neo-nazisti.
L’organizzazione afferma di essere attiva in più paesi europei e sulla pagina Facebook della sezione nordirlandese ha inserito il discorso di un prominente neo-nazista che avrebbe collegamenti con l’assassino norvegese Anders Brevik e che è stato condannato da un tribunale francese per incitamento all’odio razziale attraverso il suo blog.

A FAR-RIGHT anti-Islamic group has called for volunteers to join street patrols across Ireland so that people can “walk our streets without fear of being victims of crime”.
A Facebook page with the name The Soldiers of Odin Northern Ireland has asked people who want to “volunteer for street patrols” to provide their “name, age and location”.
There is also a Soldiers of Odin Ireland Facebook page, with one recent post stating “Soldiers we need more of you” and that the group will be “starting up with street patrolling very soon”.
In another post the anti-immigrant group says the purpose of the patrol is to allow people to “walk our streets without fear of being victims of crime” and states that “if you need to defend yourselves, or to intervene in attacks, violence allowed”.
The Northern Ireland Facebook group appears to have been set up last month and has been liked by nearly 300 people, including supporters of the far-right group Ulster Awake, which distributed leaflets attacking members of the Muslim faith and multiculturalism in the north late last year.
Soldiers of Odin was formed in Finland last year and the group claims to carry out regular street patrols in 23 cities and towns across the Scandinavian country.
Finnish media have reported widely on the Odins’ links to neo-Nazi movements.
The organisation claims to be active in a number of European countries and on its Northern Ireland Facebook page has posted a speech by a prominent neo-Nazi who reportedly has links to Norwegian killer Anders Breivik and who has been convicted by a French court of inciting racial hatred through his blog.
