Un adolescente ha evitato di rimanere ferito dopo un attacco contro l’abitazione situata nella zona di Kingsbury Garden
La famiglia è in vacanza, ma l’adolescente, che soggiorna con la sua nonna, era uscito per controllare la proprietà quando il bandito gli è passato vicino subito dopo l’attacco.
John Dallat, parlamentare locale dello SDLP, ha detto che la famiglia è già stata presa di mira prima di oggi.
“Non è la prima volta che la famiglia è oggetto di intimidazioni di natura settaria. Questa si manifesta attraverso i paramilitari lealisti che sfortunatamente non si arrendono.
“La questione è abbastanza chiara nella loro mente e nella mia: l’attacco è stato di tipo settario. E’ il tipo di cose che alza la testa in maniera stagionale.
“Nessuno sa chi sarà il prossimo ad avere un fucile da caccia che attraversa la sua finestra.
Dallat ha detto di aver parlato alla famiglia, attualmente in viaggio in Turchia.
“Erano sconvolti. Sono così lontani da casa e vogliono solo tornare. La loro vacanza è stata rovinata.
“La famiglia era andata in vacanza per sfuggire al tipo di problema che si manifesta di tanto in tanto”.
Nel frattempo la polizia ritiene che ci sia un movente razziale dietro all’attacco contro l’abitazione di cittadini straniera avvenuta all’1 di domenica nella zona di Larne Road a Ballyclare..
I colpi sono stati sparati nella parte posteriore della casa, danneggiando la finestra del bagno.
I due uomini e le due donne che erano nella proprietà, al momento dell’attacco, sono scioccati ma illesi.

Shots fired at Catholic family’s home
A teenager has escaped injury following a gun attack on the home of a Catholic family in the Kingsbury Gardens area of Coleraine.
The family is on holiday but the teen, who is staying with his granny, had called round to check on the property when the gunman passed him just after the attack.
Local SDLP MLA John Dallat said the family has been targeted before.
“It’s not the first time the family’s been subject to intimidation of a sectarian nature. This has manifested itself through loyalist paramilitaries who sadly will not give up.
“The issue’s quite clear in their mind and in mine, the attack was sectarian. It’s the type of thing that raises its head as a seasonal thing.
“No-one knows who will be next to have a shotgun through their window.
Mr Dallat said he spoke to the family who are currently in Turkey.
“They were distraught. They’re so far away from home and they just want to be back. They’ve had their holiday ruined.
“The family had gone away on holidays to escape the kind of trouble that manifests itself from time to time.”
Meanwhile police believe a racist motive may be behind an attack on the home of foreign nationals in the Larne Road area of Ballyclare at around 1am on Sunday.
Shots were fired at the rear of the house damaging the bathroom window.
The two men and two women, who were in the property at the time, were left shaken but unhurt following the attack.
