Un uomo a volto coperto ha esploso colpi di arma da fuoco contro la polizia a Derry
Bottiglie molotov sono state lanciate contro un’auto della polizia di pattuglia e mentre la vettura era in fiamme un uomo armato è comparso da dietro un pub ed ha esploso cinque colpi di pistola contro l’auto prima di scomparire.
Nessuno è rimasto ferito e l’uomo armato è fuggito via.
Il parlamentare dello SDLP Mark Durkan ha condannato la violenza.
“Se la gente non vuole ascoltare i politici come me, ascoltino le preoccupazioni e gli interessi della gente di Derry che non vuole violenza compiuta in loro nome e per qualsiasi causa”, ha affermato.
Durkan ha anche osservato come la polizia dovrebbe essere preoccupata di essere attirata in situazioni pericolose.
“Chiaramente era tutto pianificato e dimostra che la polizia deve decidere se, rispondendo ad un incidente, possono finire in qualcosa di peggiore”, ha concluso il politico nazionalista.

Gunman opens fire on Derry police
A masked gunman fired shots at police in Londonderry overnight.
Petrol bombs were thrown at a police patrol car which was on fire when a gunman appeared from behind a pub and fired five shots at the vehicle from a handgun before disappearing.
No-one was injured and the gunman ran off.
Foyle MP Mark Durkan condemned the violence.
“If people don’t want to listen to politicians like me, listen to the concerns and interest of the people of Derry who don’t want any violence carried out anywhere in their name for any cause,” he said.
Mr Durkan also said the incident showed that police should be worried about being lured into dangerous situations.
“Clearly there was a set piece to this and it underlines the point that police do have to consider whether, responding to an incident, they are being set up for something worse,” he said.
