L’agguato è avvenuto ad una pompa di benzina lungo Crumlin Road
Questa sera qualcuno ha sparato contro un agente della PSNI a North Belfast.
È avvenuto ad un’area di servizio su Crumlin Road poco dopo le 19.
Il poliziotto è stato ferito ad un braccio da qualcuno che gli ha sparato da un’autovettura in corsa. Persone presenti sulla scena riferiscono che le ferite non sono molto gravi.
La polizia non ha ancora commentato l’incidente avvenuto vicino a Tennent Street.
C’è una massiccia presenza di polizia nell’area intorno alla pompa di benzina Maxol, nei pressi del quartiere di Ardoyne.
Alcuni testimoni parlano di un’auto in fuga precipitosa lungo Crumlin Road immediatamente dopo gli spari.
Il poliziotto ferito è stato in grado di chiamare direttamente i soccorsi.
Il sindaco di Belfast, Brian Kingston, parla di incidente “spregevole”.
Ha aggiunto: “Sono sconvolto dopo aver sentito del ferimento di Crumlin Road di questa sera.
“I dettagli devono essere confermati. Azione spregevole”.
Il parlamentare di North Belfast per il DUP, Nigel Dodds, ha pubblicato su Twitter la sua condanna per l’accaduto.

Andy Allen, UUP, ha affermato: “Sono disgustato dall’aver appreso che un agente di polizia è stato ferito a colpi di arma da fuoco in Crumlin Road, Belfast, questa sera.
“I miei pensieri vanno all’agente e alla sua famiglia.
“Non ci sono giustificazioni di sorta per portare le pistole sulle nostre strade e chiedo ad eventuali testimoni di avvertire la PSNI”.
Il numero uno dell’UUP Mike Nesbitt ha detto: “Dobbiamo trovare un modo per far cessare tutto questo”.

PSNI officer hurt in drive-by shooting in North Belfast
It happened at a filling station on the Crumlin Road
A police officer has been shot in North Belfast this evening.
It happened at a filling station on the Crumlin Road shortly after 7pm.
It is believed he was shot in the arm in a drive-by shooting. Reports from the scene suggest his injuries are not life-threatening.
The PSNI has not yet commented on the incident close to Tennent Street.
There is a significant police presence in the area around a Maxol petrol station just north of the filling station and opposite the Ardoyne district.
A number of sources are claiming a car sped off along the Crumlin Road in the immediate aftermath of the incident.
It is thought the injured officer was able to call in the incident himself.
Lord Mayor of Belfast, Brian Kingston, said the incident was “despicable”.
He added: “I’m appalled to hear of a shooting incident on Crumlin Road this evening.
“Details to be confirmed. Despicable.”
North Belfast MP, Nigel Dodds, added his condemnation on Twitter. He wrote:

Ulster Unionist representative Andy Allen said: “Disgusted to learn that a police officer has been injured in a shooting on the Crumlin Rd, Belfast this evening.
“My thoughts are with the officer and his family at this time.
“There can be no justification whatsoever for bringing guns onto our streets and I would urge anyone who may have witnessed anything to contact the PSNI on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 .”
His leader Mike Nesbitt said: “We must find a way to end this.”
