L’uomo arrestato per il video in cui si vedeva un repubblicano sparare in aria ad Ardoyne prima di una parata commemorativa avvenuta il mese scorso è stato rilasciato.
Gli agenti di Tennent Street avevano arrestato il quarantunenne martedì per presunte attività repubblicane svolte nell’area di Berwick Street sabato 30 marzo.
L’uomo era stato trattenuto presso la Serious Crime Suite della stazione di polizia di Antrim in base alla Legge sul Terrorismo del 2006.
Tuttavia la PSNI lo ha rilasciato incondizionatamente nella serata di mercoledì.
Il Belfast Daily aveva rivelato ieri che il sospettato era stato interrogato in relazione all’uomo vestito con abiti in stile paramilitare che aveva sparato alcuni colpi di arma da fuoco in aria in Berwick Road, vicino a Alliance Avenue, nella parte nord di Belfast.
Il video, secondo la polizia nordirlandese, sarebbe servito per cercare di ottenere fondi dai sostenitori americani di origine irlandese.
Per gli ufficiali dell’intelligence Oglaich na hEireann (ONH) sta cercando di ottenere nuovi fondi per portare avanti la propria campagna armata in vista del summit del G8 che si terrà nella Contea di Fermanagh.
Il video del repubblicano era poi finito su YouTube.
L’intervento dell’uomo armato ebbe luogo poco prima della parata della Henry Joy McCracken Republican Flute Band organizzata dal Republican Network for Unity, ritenuto l’ala politica di ONH.
Alcuni bambini, vestiti con abiti in stile paramilitare, presero parte alla parata che non venne monitorata tramite elicottero dalla PSNI.
Le immagini dei bambini provocarono lamentele diffuse.

A MAN arrested over the video of a dissident republican gunman firing shots in Ardoyne during a band parade last month has been released from custody.
Officers from Tennent Street arrested the 41-year-old man on Tuesday on suspicion of dissident republican activity in the Berwick Street area of Belfast on Saturday, 30th March.
The man was being held at the serious crime suite in Antrim for questioning under the Terrorism Act 2006.
However, on Wednesday evening he was released by police unconditionally.
Belfast Daily revealed yesterday that the suspect was being questioned about dressing up in paramilitary style clothing and firing a number of shots into the air at Berwick Road, just off Alliance Avenue in the north of the city.

Security chiefs believe Oglaigh na hEireann (ONH) is attempting to raise further funds to carry on its terror campaign ahead of this summer’s G8 summit of world leaders in Co Fermanagh.
The video of a masked and hooded man firing shots into the air from a handgun in Ardoyne, north Belfast on Saturday, March 30, was later posted up on YouTube.
It happened during the Henry Joy McCracken Republican Flute Band parade which was organised by Republican Network for Unity, the political wing of ONH.
A number of young children, dressed in paramilitary style clothing, took part in the parade which was not monitored from the ground or air by the PSNI.
The images of the children sparked a public outcry that adults would put them at such risk and danger.
