Stormont: parlamentari pagati per fornire un servizio scarso

E’ ora che i politici nordirlandesi si facciano un bell’esame.

Nessun incontro da maggio e ricevono ancora gli emolumenti. Loro obietteranno che il lavoro sta proseguendo come al solito dietro alle quinte, ma noi dobbiamo solamente fidarci della loro parola.

Chi altro ha il lusso di poter scegliere accuratamente i doveri esposti nelle descrizione dei loro lavori? Quale datore di lavoro tollererebbe un impiegato che decide se, e quando, eseguire certi aspetti del proprio lavoro? Cosa dà ai nostri politici il diritto di rimandare parte del loro lavoro fino a quando decidono di poterlo eseguire, mentre la popolazione ancora paga i loro enormi salari?

I membri dell’Assemblea non sembrano preoccuparsi dell’aumento del costo della vita. La popolazione nordirlandese non solo deve trovare soldi aggiuntivi per coprire le spese sempre in aumento, ma deve anche pagare i politici per quello che non stanno facendo.

La gente è stufa del servizio di seconda classe che sta ricevendo da un governo estremamente costoso che, incidentalmente, non deve preoccuparsi anche delle spese per sicurezza e giustizia.

E’ terrificante pensare che questi argomenti dovranno essere consegnati a questi politici, già in difficoltà ad affrontare i compiti attuali.

MLAs paid for very poor service

It’s about time Northern Ireland politicians took a good look at themselves.

No Assembly meetings from May and they are still receiving salaries. They will argue that work is going on as usual behind the scenes, but we have only their word for this.

Who else has the luxury of cherry-picking the duties as laid out in their job description? What employer would tolerate an employee deciding if, and when, they will carry out certain aspects of their work? What gives our politicians the right to put part of their job on hold until such times as they see fit to carry it out while the public still pays their huge wages?

Assembly members aren’t going to worry too much about the rising cost of living. The great Northern Ireland public not only have to find the extra money to cover their own huge bill increases, but are still continuing to pay for the work politicians are not doing.

People are sick of the second-class service they are receiving from a very expensive Government which, incidentally, doesn’t even have to worry about the burden of policing and justice.

It is terrifying to think of the prospect of these duties being handed over to politicians who find difficulties coping with their present duties.
