Su Bebo incitamenti agli assassini di McDaid

La scorsa sera ci sono state voci che parlavano di una pagina su Bebo dove si appoggiavano gli assassini di Kevin McDaid, in seguito rimossa da Internet.

La pagina era dedicata alla banda musicale di Coleraine Pride of the Bann – che hanno chiesto ai gestori della pagina di eliminarla.

Il sito Internet, altamente accessibile e che può essere utilizzato da chiunque, conteneva messaggi offensivi di lode verso la banda di lealisti che ha picchiato fino alla morte il lavoratore comunitario cattolico la scorsa domenica.

La pagina Internet, che conta 119 fan, contiene anche fotografie e filmati della Pride of the Bann durante le parate.

In un comunicato, la Pride of the Bann ha detto che i suoi membri si distanziano dall’incidente e dalle ripercussioni politiche. Ma i messaggi lasciati su Bebo hanno sconvolto la comunità.

Uno recitava: “Ben fatto gente!! Rispetto quanto accaduto domenica ma mantenete la nostra fede. Ordine adeguato!!”

Un altro annotava: “Orgoglio della banda (gioco di parole sul nome del gruppo: Pride of the band invece di Pride of the Bann), non siamo spaventati dalla RUC. VI faremo vedere cosa possiamo fare”.

L’ultimo messaggio si riferiva alla parata di questa sera.

Si appellava alla calma, dicendo: “Mantenete pacifico il venerdì, la vittoria sarà vostra alla fine della sera!! Spero sia una parata buona… non arrendersi!! Dovremo camminare… su un’autostrada!!”

Un portavoce della Pride of the Bann Flute Band ha affermato che la banda musicale “non ha alcuna pagina su Bebo.

“Se c’è un sito che dice di essere la Pride of the Bann, i dirigenti della banda hanno chiesto a chi lo ha realizzato di rimuoverlo immediatamente”.

Webpage supports loyalist mob murder of Catholic

There were calls last night for a Bebo webpage which supported the killers of Kevin McDaid to be removed from the internet.

The page had been dedicated to the Coleraine-based Pride of the Bann flute band — who have now called on the page designers to take it down.

The easily accessible website, which can be set up and added to by anyone, contains offensive messages praising the loyalist mob who battered the Catholic community worker to death last Sunday.

The website, which has 119 fans, also contains photographs and video footage of the Pride of the Bann on parade.

In a statement, Pride of the Bann said its members were distancing themselves from the incident and political repercussions. But messages left on the Bebo site have shocked the community.

One read: “Well done lads!! respect what happened on sunday but maintain ur faith. proper order!!”

Another noted: “Pride of the band are we were not scared of the ruc.. we’ll show use wot we can do.”

The latest Bebo message, referred to tonight’s parade.

It called for calm, saying: “keep friday peaceful, victory will be yours at the end of the night!! hope its a good one …. no surrender!! one highway… we shall walk!!”

A spokesman for Pride of the Bann Flute Band said: “Pride of the Bann Flute Band Coleraine, have no site on Bebo.

“If there is a site claiming to be Pride of the Bann, band leaders have asked that whoever set this site up to remove it immediately.”
