Suzanne Breen ancora in tribunale giovedì prossimo

Suzanne Breen, iscritta alla National Union of Journalist, che sta combattendo contro il tentativo da parte del Police Service of Northern Ireland di sequestrare le sue note sulle conversazioni con la Real IRA, torna in aula la prossima settimana

La giornalista di Belfast, redattrice del Sunday Tribune, dovrà comparire presso il tribunale di Laganside a Belfast alle 10:30 del prossimo giovedì 11 giugno.

Il National Union of Journalism (NUJ) organizzerà una protesta presso il tribunale e all’ufficio di Londra del Northern Ireland Office.

Michelle Stanistreet, vice segretario generale, afferma che “Suzanne Breen sta aderendo al codice di condotta del NUJ, rifiutando di fornire qualsiasi informazione possa portare all’identificazione delle sue fonti.

“Gli appartenenti al NUJ di tutta la Gran Bretagna e Irlanda sono con lei.

“Chiedo a quanta più gente possibile di firmare la nostra petizione online e scrivere ai loro parlamentari (sia a Westminster che a Dublino) per sostenere Suzanne prima dell’udienza di giovedì”.

NUJ member Suzanne Breen, who is fighting a bid from the Police Service of Northern Ireland, to seize her notes of conversations with the Real IRA, is back in court next week.

The Belfast editor of the Sunday Tribune newspaper is to appear at the Laganside Courts in Belfast at 10.30am next Thursday, 11 June.

The National Union of Journalism (NUJ) will be organising protests at the court and at the Northern Ireland Office in London.

Michelle Stanistreet, NUJ Deputy General Secretary, said: “Suzanne is sticking to the NUJ code of conduct by refusing to give up any information which could lead to the identification of her sources.

“Union members across Britain and Ireland are right behind her.

“I urge as many people as possible to sign our online petition, and write to their MPs and TDs in support of Suzanne before Thursday’s court case.”
