Telecamera riprende i colpi sparati a Ballymena

Una coppia della Contea di Antrim ha detto che non se ne andrà da casa dopo l’esplosione di alcuni colpi di pistola contro la finestra del soggiorno, avvenuta ieri notte in seguito ad un litigio per le bandiere.

Una telecamera a circuito chiuso fornita dalla coppia (disponibile sul sito del News Letter) mostra un uomo, con indosso un passamontagna scuro, avvicinarsi all’abitazione di Ballymena e sparare tre colpi con quella che sembra un’arma semi-automatica.

I due giovani, che si trovavano a letto al piano superiore quando l’uomo ha sparato alla loro casa, intorno alle 00:30, dicono di essere diventati il bersaglio perché si sono lamentati dell’esposizione delle bandiere nel quartiere a maggioranza unionista di Rossdale, a sud di Ballymena.

Mentre le operazioni presso la loro abitazione sono continuate ieri (il 29 giugno, NdT), la coppia, che non desidera venir nominata, ha riferito al News Letter che questo è il terzo attacco nelle ultime settimane.

“La prima cosa che abbiamo sentito è stato una lunga esplosione e quindi la finestra del salotto è caduta all’interno”, ha detto la donna. “Shock completo, ecco l’unico modo con cui possiamo descriverlo. Siamo stati già attaccati due volte prima d’ora, con pietre e mattoni lanciate contro le finestre della casa e contro la nostra macchina, ma quando ti sparano contro l’abitazione è una cosa terribile”.

A COUNTY Antrim couple have said they will not be forced from their home after shots were fired through their living room windows yesterday morning, in a row over flags.
Dramatic CCTV footage captured by the couple (available on the Newsletter website) shows a single gun man, wearing a dark balaclava approach the house in Ballymena and fire three shots with what appears to be a semi-automatic weapon.

The young man and woman who were in bed upstairs when the gun man opened fire on their home at 12.30am, say they have been singled out because they had spoken out against the erection of flags in the mainly unionist Rossdale estate in the south of Ballymena.

As the clean-up operation at their home cotinued yesterday , the couple who did not wish to be named, told the Newsletter that the shooting was the third attack in recent weeks.

“The first thing we heard was a long bang and then the living room window came in”, said the woman. “Total shock, that’s the only way we could decribe it. We had been attacked twice before, with stones and bricks thrown at the windows of the house and our car, but to have a gun fired at your home is frightening.”
