Tentato incendio contro ufficio di David Ford a Glengormley

Il ministro della Giustizia David Word si dice “estremamente preoccupato” dopo l’attacco incendiario contro l’ufficio elettorale di Glengormley

Piccole bruciature sono state causate ai locali in Carnmoney Road, dove un oggetto è stato imbevuto di benzina e dato alle fiamme intorno alle 5 di mercoledì mattina.

Ford ha detto che l’attacco era “probabilmente collegato allo sviluppo della giustizia”.

“A qusto punto, non sono esattamente certo del motivo dell’attacco, ho preso recentemente decisioni difficili in relazione al giusto finanziamento in tutto il ministero, in relazione alle prigioni e ho eseguito riforme in differenti aree, quindi sfortunatamente questo capita ad essere ministro della Giustizia”, ha affermato.

“Sono molto preoccupato. Anche se si tratta di danni relativamente piccoli sembra che qualcuno pensi di poter ottenere qualcosa danneggiando questo edificio.

“Adesso, chi desidera qualcosa dovrebbe impregnarsi in democrazia, negoziazione e consultazione, e non cercare di ottenere qualcosa con azioni simili”.

A maggio una bomba era stata lanciata contro il quartier generale dell’Alliance Party a Sout Belfast, ma non era esplosa. Un uomo è stato in seguito fermato per l’attacco.

“Essere ministro della Giustizia non è tutto rose e fiori, ci sono decisioni difficili da prendere ed io ne ero pienamente a conoscenza quando ho assunto tale ruolo.

“Sono impegnato a fare del meglio che posso per la popolazione dell’Irlanda del Nord, e questo genere di azioni non fanno alcuna differenza”.

Arson attack at Justice Minister’s office

Justice Minister David Ford says he is “extremely worried” following an early morning arson attack at his Glengormley constituency office.

Minor scorch damage was caused to the Carnmoney Road premises when an object was doused with petrol and set on fire at around 5am on Wednesday.

Mr Ford said the attack was “probably linked to the development of justice”:

“At this stage, I’m not exactly sure what the attack was about, I’ve had to make difficult decisions recently about issues in relation to finance right across the department, in relation to prisons, and reforms in different areas, so that unfortunately is what comes with the territory of being Justice Minister,” he said.

“I’m extremely worried, even though it’s only relatively minor damage at this stage that somebody thinks that they can achieve something by damaging this building.

“In this day and age, people who have points to make should engage in democracy and negotiation and consultation, and not attempt to make points by engaging in actions like this.”

In May, a bomb was thrown at the Alliance Party headquarters in south Belfast but did not explode. One man has been arrested in connection with the attack.

Mr Ford said the incidents will not deter Alliance members from continuing their work:

“Being Justice Minister isn’t a bundle of laughs all the time, there are difficult decisions to be taken and I was fully aware of that when I took the job on.

“I’m committed to doing the best I can for the people of Northern Ireland, and this sort of action won’t make any difference.”
