Visteon workers end 49-day sit-in at Belfast plant’
Sacked workers at the Visteon car plant in Belfast have ended their 49-day sit-in at the factory today.
The former employees agreed to leave the Finaghy Road premises following the negotiation of an improved compensation package.
Cheered on by family members and other supporters, they marched out the front gates today wearing t-shirts and carrying banners criticising their former employers.
Despite achieving improved redundancy terms, the workers are still losing many of their pension entitlements and are vowing to continue their campaign on this issue.
Visteon gave just one hour’s notice in March when it announced it was closing its Belfast plant along with two others in the UK.
