Un oggetto sospetto trovato all’esterno di una scuola primaria di Ahoghill ha fatto scattare uno dei tre allarmi sicurezza nella giornata di domenica
Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico sono stati dislocati sulla scena e stanno eseguendo i rilievi, mentre gli automobilisti sono stati avvertiti che la strada è chiusa e sono state predisposte deviazioni al traffico.
Il portavoce UUP per North Antrim, Robin Swann, ha condannato chi si cela dietro l’incidente.
“Condanno senza riserve questo incidente, a prescindere da qualsiasi individuo o gruppo possa esserne responsabile”, ha detto Swann.
“La gente di Ahoghill, come la stragrande maggioranza del resto della comunità di North Antrim, non vuole avere nulla a che fare con questo, vuole semplicemente vivere la propria vita in pace con i loro vicini e far crescere le proprie famiglie”.
Sempre nella Contea di Antrim, gli artificieri sono stati incaricati di esaminare un oggetto sospetto trovato all’esterno di un club GAA a Portglenone.
L’oggetto è stato scoperto da un membro del pubblico lungo Gortgole Road, poco prima delle 16:00. La polizia attualmente si trova sulla scena.
Nel frattempo a Portstewart, Contea di Londonderry, due case sono state evacuate a causa di un allarme sicurezza nella zona di Enterprise Parade.
Un ordigno è stato segnalato intorno alle 13. La squadra di artificieri ha effettuato un’esplosione controllata e l’elemento è stato dichiarato un’imitazione di bomba.

Police probe spate of bomb alerts
A suspicious device found outside a primary school in Ahoghill has sparked one of three security alerts across Northern Ireland on Sunday.
Army Bomb Squad officers have been tasked to the scene and are carrying out examinations, and drivers are being warned that the road is closed off and diversions put in place while the alert is ongoing.
UUP North Antrim spokesman Robin Swann condemned those behind the incident.
“I condemn this incident unreservedly, regardless of whatever individual or group may be responsible,” Mr Swann said.
“The people of Ahoghill, like the vast majority of the rest of the North Antrim community want nothing to do with this, they simply want to live their lives in peace with their neighbours and raise their families.”
Also in Co Antrim, the Bomb Squad have been tasked to examine a suspicious object outside a GAA club in Portglenone.
It was discovered by a member of the public on the Gortgole Road shortly before 4pm. Police are currently at the scene.
Meanwhile In Portstewart, Co Londonderry, two homes were evacuated due to a security alert in the Enterprise Parade area.
A device was reported at around 1pm. The bomb squad carried out a controlled explosion some time later, and the item was declared a hoax.
