Tre arresti nella Repubblica per attività repubblicana

Gli investigatori della Garda hanno fermato tre uomini sospettati di essere coinvolti nell’attività repubblicana, dopo un’incursione vicino al confine

Una pistola è stata sequestrata durante la perquisizione di una casa a Belturbet, nella Contea di Cavan, nella Repubblica d’Irlanda.

Fonti della Garda riferiscono che l’operazione non è collegata all’attacco contro il poliziotto cattolico.

Dei tre uomini, di 38, 39 e 44 anni, due sono fratelli di Lurgan ed uno viene dalla Contea di Tyrone.

Vengono interrogati per la presunta appartenenza ad un’organizzazione illegale.

Si ritiene abbiano vissuto a Belturbet per alcuni mesi.

Uno viene trattenuto presso la stazione di polizia di Ballyconnell mentre gli altri due si trovano nella stazione della Garda a Cavan, in base alla Sezione 30 della Offences Against the State Act (Legge per i Reati contro lo Stato).

“Questi arresti non sono in alcun modo legati all’attacco di Randalstown”, ha ribadito la fonte della Garda.

Three arrested over dissident activity

Detectives have arrested three men suspected of being involved in dissident republican activity during a raid near the Irish border.

A handgun was seized during the search at a house in Belturbet, Co Cavan, in the Irish Republic.

Garda sources said the operation was not related to the car bomb attack on a Catholic police officer in County Antrim.

The three men – aged 38, 39 and 44 years – include two brothers from Lurgan, Co Armagh and another man from Co Tyrone.

They are being questioned about suspected membership of an illegal organisation.

It is believed they have been living in Belturbet for a few months.

One is being detained at Ballyconnell Garda station while the other two are being questioned at Cavan Garda station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

“These arrests are not related to the attack in Randalstown,” said a Garda source.
