Un arresto a Belfast per l’ordigno inesploso di dicembre

Un trentaseienne è stato arrestato dagli inquirenti che indagano sul tentato omicidio di un agente di polizia avvenuto a Belfast.

Il fermato viene interrogato sull’ordigno lasciato sotto alla vettura di un poliziotto nella zona est della città lo scorso dicembre.

Arrestato lunedì mattina a West Belfast l’uomo è stato trasferito presso la stazione di polizia di Antrim, dove viene interrogato nella Serious Crime Suite.

L’agente della polizia si stava preparando a portare fuori la moglie e i due figli per il pranzo domenicale quando ha scoperto l’ordigno lasciato sotto alla sua vettura parcheggiata in Upper Newtownards Road.

Secondo gli investigatori l’ordigno avrebbe potuto uccidere l’agente PSNI e la sua famiglia.

Per l’attacco sono stati accusati i gruppi armati repubbliani sebbene non siano giunte rivendicazioni.

Man arrested over undercar bomb find

A 36-year-old man has been arrested by detectives investigating the attempted murder of a policeman in Belfast.

The suspect is being questioned about the booby trap bomb that was left under the officer’s car in the east of the city in December.

He was arrested in west Belfast on Monday morning and has been taken to the police’s serious crime suite in Antrim.

The PSNI constable was preparing to take his wife and two children out for Sunday lunch when he discovered the device under his vehicle at his home on the Upper Newtownards Road.

Senior officers have said the bomb could have killed the policeman and his family.

The failed attack, which has been blamed on dissident republicans, took place close to PSNI headquarters and the home of the Northern Ireland Assembly at Stormont.
