Un uomo di 42 anni è stato accusato per l’autobomba esplosa fuori dalla stazione di polizia di Derry
La polizia ha riferito di aver presentato 12 capi di accusa contro l’uomo, tra cui l’aver causato l’esplosione, possesso di esplosivi, furto e sequestro di persona.
L’uomo deve comparire venerdì in aula a Derry. Nel frattempo un cinquantaquattrenne viene ancora interrogato sull’attacco.
E’ stato fermato lunedì e alla polizia è stato concesso di trattenerlo per quattro giorni. Giovedì la PSNI ha ricevuto un altro permesso che prolunga di altri 4 giorni ilperiodo detentivo.
Durante l’attacco, un taxi è stato sequestrato e imbottito con 200 libbre di esplosivo artigianale. L’autista è stato costretto con le armi a lasciare la macchina presso la stazione PSNI di Strand Road.
La polizia stava ancora facendo evacuare la gente dagli edifici della zona, compreso un fast food da asporto, quando la bomba è esplosa.
Oglaigh na hEireann ha rivendicato l’attacco, che ha provocato ingenti danni ad un buon numero di imprese commerciali.
L’ordigno è esploso alle 3:20, prima del tempo comunicato dai repubblicani nella telefonata di avvertimento alla polizia. E’ servita molta fortuna affinché nessuno rimanesse ferito.
L’uomo accusato per l’esplosione è stato fermato dal Serious Crime Brach della PSNI.
Viene anche accusato di appartenenza ad Oglaigh na hEireann.

Man charged over bomb at Londonderry police station
A 42-year-old man has been charged over a car bomb which exploded outside a police station in Londonderry.
Police said the man would face a total of 12 charges including causing the explosion, possession of explosives, hijacking and false imprisonment.
He is due to appear at court in Derry on Friday. A 54-year-old man is still being questioned about the attack.
He was arrested on Monday and police were given permission to detain him for four days. On Thursday, they were given permission to hold him for four more.
During the incident, a taxi was hijacked and packed with 200lbs of homemade explosives. The driver was ordered at gunpoint to leave the car at Strand Road police station.
Police were still clearing people from surrounding buildings, including a fast food takeaway, when the bomb detonated.
Dissident republican grouping Oglaigh na hEireann claimed it was behind the attack, which badly damaged a number of businesses at about 0320 BST.
The device exploded earlier than the bombers had predicted in their warning to police and it was said to have been a miracle that no one was injured.
The charged man was arrested by the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Serious Crime branch.
He is also charged with membership of Oglaigh na hEireann.
